Now do a poll to see how many people think they themselves are unbiased. The media is just giving us what we want. That's how they get paid. Did you read further into the article? "The poll also found that Americans viewed political bias in news as a “major problem” and that they perceive inaccuracies in news as purposeful and intended to push a specific agenda. 73% of respondents said that bias is a “major problem,” compared to 65% who said it was a major problem in 2017. A majority of Americans – 54% – said that inaccuracies were intentional because reporters were misrepresenting facts, and 28% believed reporters made up facts entirely, the poll found. So it is safe to say that most Americans are admitting that the media is no longer really giving us what we want.

So it is safe to say that most Americans are admitting that the media is no longer really giving us what we want. I guess I disagree. The media is in it for the ratings, because ratings drive advertising rates. And the ratings indicate what we want is a constant stream of "stuff" that reinforces our political and social beliefs, with honesty, integrity and professional journalism ranking far behind.

The media is just giving us what we want. That's how they get paid. Are they? I never subscribed to the Times and recently dropped the Register because of their bias. I wanted news in the news section, not editorials, but once the Register was sold, that went down the drain. The Registers falling numbers seem to say they are giving us what they want and are willing to go bankrupt to do so.

When I say "we", I mean the collective we, not necessarily you or me.
The math is pretty easy. Ratings drive ad value up or down.
As for the papers, they continue to shrink with ad revenues. Classifieds used to be a huge reason to get the paper. Not much at all any more when job postings and things for sale are done online now.

And the ratings indicate what we want is a constant stream of "stuff" that reinforces our political and social beliefs, with honesty, integrity and professional journalism ranking far behind. That used to be the creed, but it seems it is changing today. today, we see highly-rated TV shows like Last Man Standing cancelled, apparently, because the network did not agree with the politics of the main character (Tim Allen). Roseanne Barr makes an off-color remark and she is drummed off a popular resurrection of her formerly VERY successful Sitcom. The NFL doubles down on their unwelcome and, to many, offensive support for BLM, despite precipitous falls in attendance and viewership... and over and over it goes. are the REALLY still interested in ratings to generate revenue? Or are they buying a lie to promote an ideology? With COVID keeping people inside, networks and Streaming providers now have captive audiences. They might actually believe we aren’t going anywhere, so they can now program with impunity. seems like it, anyway.

CNN once again prints that their view of Science concerning climate change is FACT.
President Trump's visit to the fire-ravaged West Coast reignites climate fight
At his rally in Minden, Nevada, Saturday night, Trump said Americans' "hearts are with all of the communities in the West battling devastating wildfires," but signaled that he will continue to blame "forest management" for the fires. Ignoring the fact that human activity has led to the warming of the planet, creating record droughts and the dry, hot conditions that often serve as catalysts for forest fires, Trump insisted as recently as August that he'd told California officials "to clean your floors; you've got to clean your forests," suggesting that leaves and broken trees were responsible for the fires. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/president-trump-s-visit-to-the-fire-ravaged-west-coast-reignites-climate-fight/ar-BB190NJI?ocid=msedgdhp

I wonder how CNN will react when they realize that Arizona, Nevada, Idaho and Montana face the same conditions as the coastal western states, but since they manage their forests, they don't have the same amount of devastating wildfires. Does climate change only affect California, Oregan & Washington?

I'm sure I've posted this before, but California contributes something like 0.15% of the worldwide carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere. If the state didn't ever add another molecule to that total, it would make absolutely no difference. Yet there are millions who believe that if we clean up our act here in the state, the skies will clear, fires will stop and hurricanes will disappear.
When forest fires stop at national borders, it's not climate change that is driving them, it's man-made forest management. Even people with a middle school education know that, which explains why so many on the left don't.

I went on the Canadian version of fire reporting which shows the current fire maps.
The absence of fires is remarkable considering how much more forested Canada is compared to Oregon, Was & nor Cal.
It would be interesting to see what the actual differences are in the way the Canadians manage their forests, and the way we do.
