I was about to bring up the issue of social media bias under the "media bias" thread but thought better to give it its own due, I see this latest move by Facebook as as serious threat to society as a whole.
I keep asking myself how on earth has the conservative minded person survived in todays world when the message is so controlled by opposite thinking minds? From the networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, the newspapers, LAT's, NYT's, WAPO, (won't list every paper in America), Magazines such as Time, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone to GQ, the list goes on, and now social media has reared its control on conservative voice, Facebook banning James Woods? The one Hollywood-ite speaking up? Banning pages and links to places like Infowars and Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos banned? Does this sound all to familiar.... TOB!
Have any of you here pondered just how hard it was for Trump or any conservative to get elected when almost all these systems are creating a headwind and in turn giving tail wind to the other side? And now coming into an election year those most powerful, the Facebooks, Twitters, Googles literally control the message along with their liberal brethren in traditional media many named above. Least I add all of Hollywood the producers of most content.
So what does one do? A conservative or Libertarian mind? I pulled this from a Townhall article:
"Whereas liberals have historically been the ones defending free speech at all costs, this time conservatives are up in arms because it is conservative voices and opinions that are being suppressed, not by government, but by private corporations whose power, particularly over the public consciousness, rivals that of any nation. Except, when it comes to solutions, conservatives often run into conflict with their own stated values. “Government cannot regulate speech,” said the good libertarian, “but a private corporation can do whatever it wants.”
Okay, but what happens when that private corporation is a virtual (no pun intended) monopoly? I suppose there’s no need to ask, because it’s happening now. “Don’t like it? Go start your own social media platform!” a conservative or libertarian might say smugly, as if it were just a matter of learning a little code and a making a quick visit to GoDaddy. Yeah, good luck with that."
Well we did leave TOB (Facebook) and start our own! Yet honestly, how does the conservative function, survive when the IRS is targeting and auditing them, the DOJ and FBI routinely investigating them, the media bashing them and now social media censoring them?
It appears to me the next civil war in this country will not be fought on soil but online...., conservatives better find a counter e-militia!
