My only regret is not being able to stick this news to the libs at OC Connect (although I'm sure they'd find some way to tell us why we shouldn't believe our eyes and ears).
YUGE jobs report for January. Headline from CNBC:

I'm sure there's some better analogy than a snowball's chance in hell, but that's the likelihood of you getting a conceded point over there.
Just remember, the reason unemployment rate is so low is that most people work 2 jobs.

Speaking of withholding taxes, back in my Austrian economics days, I remembering learning the irony that it was a young Milton Friedman who helped usher in employer-managed income tax withholding. Another great article on this from The Mises Institute, which concludes thusly: Ideally, the elimination of the withholding tax would force the American people to see exactly how much of their income is being confiscated by the government to fund its trillion-dollar budgets. This would, of course, have to be followed by sufficient outrage on behalf of the American people to reduce those budgets. The elimination of the withholding tax is also sometimes seen as freeing businesses from being tax collectors. But this would only be true if businesses also ceased to collect Social Security tax for the government.mises.org/library/curse-withholding-taxPrecisely because eliminating automatic (and thus hidden) withholding would be so effective in taming runaway government spending, it would never be proposed by the swap-dwellers in Congress. Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) would be the only exceptions I can think of. AMEN, AMEN, I SAY TO YOU...

I'm guessing there might be some unintended consequences if the withholding system were abolished. Maybe the need to hire a couple extra IRS collection agents?

That really is interesting, and I agree with the irony. I'd be curious to know what's happened to the % of tax evaders as a percent of the overall population since its implementation. While this may sound somewhat liberal, I'm guessing a good % of the population may not be disciplined enough to save enough to write their annual tax check, and would end up on the wrong side of the law without compulsory tax withholding. Would that be even more ironic?

I did tweet the news to Fordama a couple weeks ago. He steadfastly refused to address it, continued to sayTrump inherited the improved economy from Obama, and got to the point where even he knew he could not sustain his argument when he accused me of calling him a liar.

That utter lack of objectivity is what concerns me most about some of these folks in positions of influence over young minds.

I can’t like that post because I don’t like it... but I agree, that concerns me too.

US weekly jobless claims drop to the lowest level since 1969- The number of Americans filing applications for unemployment benefits dropped to a more than 49-year low last week.
- The data pointed to sustained labor market strength despite slowing economic growth.
- Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped to 202,000 for the week ended March 30, the lowest level since early December 1969, the Labor Department said.

People don't usually think of Texas as a purple state, but it sure looked like it during the Cruz/Beto senatorial race. Part of that was due to the fact that Cruz is not the most likable guy. Governor Abbott (in his race) got 400,000 more votes than Cruz did in his. But the left was so impressed that I imagine they are thinking that they can take Texas in 2020, if Beto is the VP nominee. They might be right. So much so, that if their ticket ends up choosing Beto as their VP nominee, the Republicans (whose convention is a month later) need to get Pence to drop out in favor of Abbott.
