Yep, that was me. I noticed how many they had left and bought them all. I did for the beef, there was too much chicken and tuna. My wife said I was crazy, but then remember the shelves cleared out soon after that. My whole family thought I was crazy, but my wife is now expanding her garden, buying more canned goods....
I took this picture at the neighborhood Walmart a couple weeks later (March 15 2020):
It was like that throughout the store, except in the produce section:
The economy is worrisome. There is a consolidation of shipping companies (into the company One). Now getting a container from China costs 14K. It used to cost 1.4K according to one of my customers who does that. Plus people (like me) are raising their prices in anticipation of inflation, which causes more inflation.
Did anyone see DeSantis on Tucker tonight. He said that the Long Beach harbor is now working 24-7. He said his ports have always done that, and then he went on to make a pitch to importers to bring stuff through Florida. Compare that to our governor....

I shop at Stater Bros., Target, Super King, Sprouts and Trader Joe's every week, and I haven't seen empty shelves anywhere.

I've been to several grocery stores including the larger ones, about twice a week here in Illinois for several months... nary an empty shelf anywhere. ALTHOUGH, one store was a little slow restocking my favorite coffee...

Since about this time, last year, my 401K has lost almost 1%. This is the first time it has lost. This news, while not surprising at all, won't help: House passes $1-trillion bipartisan infrastructure package
But that word "bipartisan" concerns me. OF course, this IS the LA Times, but reading the article makes it sound like the two "partisan" sides that agreed were progressive democrats and moderate democrats. Very little mention of republicans supporting it.

I hate to bring grade-school arithmetic into this again, but if it's a trillion-dollar bill, and if $281 billion goes toward roads, bridges, major surface transportation projects, passenger rail (that nobody will ride), public transit (which nobody will ride), pedestrian walkways (which nobody will use) and clean drinking water, where does the remaining $719 billion go?
