Color me shocked that CBS would even publish those results.
Hope!

One of the best--out of many--moments in tonight's SOTU speech:

Democrat women did a great job of identifying themselves for future political ads while sitting on their hands for great employment numbers and military veterans. Even better the ones whom sat when the President stated we will never be a SOCIALIST country! Even Pelosi and Schumer stood for that one! This newly elected radical group actually only stood to applaud themselves for making office. #Embarrassing

With the noise the left is making about how "bad" the SOTU address was, you'd think only 24% approved, and not the other way around.
Here's my math on this to get to 76% overall approval:
43% Repub @97% approval = 42% 30% Ind @82% approval = 25% 24% Dem @38% approval (est) = 7%
Didn't consider the didn't declare.
1 in 3 Democrats agreed with the speech. I don't think that's too shabby.

I have to concede that for the most part the SOTU is an expensive Dog & Pony Show, where the incumbent President gets to exercise the bully pulpit in a pep rally atmosphere. Most of these affairs are filled with little more than boilerplate proposals that never come to fruition.
Having said that, my takeaways from Trump's SOTU #2:
1. For the political non-junkies tuning to check it out, Trump came across as eminently reasonable--as opposed to the cartoonish monster that CNN, MSNBC, and Twitter make him out to be on a daily basis. That's a plus for him, and the 82% approval from Independent viewers cannot make the Democrats feel good about the night.
2. Contra the constant drumbeat that Trump is a racist, sexist, and ant-Semite, his obvious pride in the record-low unemployment for minorities and women, and his choice of guests in the gallery to highlight make those claims look like the ridiculous slanders that they are. Another plus.
3. The churlish behavior of the Democrats will reflect badly upon them. Plus #3.
4. Most forceful pro-life message ever uttered in a SOTU address. Plus #4.
Overall, while the night will not move the needle on the Left, it does bolster the President's base nicely and provided an opening for the those in the center to hear the man unfiltered by the gross media bias of the mainstream media. Hard for any fair-minded person to oppose his border security proposals.

I believe the SOTU pulpit has better benefit for a Republic President due to the fact that 80% of the media is a false filter of the man (to date) in office. Here are this mornings Rasmussen Reports polling numbers. The President crossed over to the favorable which is actually a significant feat to be 50% half way into a presidential term. www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/trump_administration/prez_track_feb08Daily Presidential Tracking PollFriday, February 08, 2019
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.

My first post will be about Nancy Pelosi and her continued shuffling of the large papers. Does anyone have an idea of what she was doing?

Hi and welcome. I'm pretty sure it was the text of the speech. It was distracting and somewhat rude IMO.

This is the interesting story which I heard. Trump released what the text of his speech would be. Pelosi reviewed its contents and saw nothing in it for her group to positively acknowledge, so she gave instructions for them NOT to stand and applaud for anything. Trump then canned that speech, and gave the one which included Buzz Aldrin, the Veterans storming the beach, the Holocaust survivor, the cancer survivor, etc...…..all the things which deserve a standing ovation. Nancy was furiously shuffling the pages trying to find out where the heck the President was. The Dems, under instructions from Pelosi, looked horrible as they sat stone faced through all of those uplifting moments. He also surprised them by acknowledging the females in Congress, which they stood up and gave themselves a standing ovation...once again making them look bad. If true, he pulled one over on Pelosi, and it might explain her sarcastic hand clap at the end of his speech. Also might explain why the rebuttal speech was so negative. They were responding to things which weren't said.
