O.K., it’s only The New York Post, but they also explain why they believe Obama’s presidency was a failure. The irony in all this is, this NY Post opinion piece takes its evidence from a book by Jonathan Chait, whom they describe as “the New York magazine columnist and lefty firebrand.” The book is entitled, Audacity: How Barack Obama Defied His Critics and Created a Legacy That Will Prevail The evidence they cite includes, there is a lot more in the article. If you read it through, I’d appreciate your comments. |

I thought he was in over his head to begin with, having no real leadership experience prior to becoming POTUS. Projecting my own values, I assumed he would work slowly in his weaker areas, and capitalize on his strengths... popular charisma... to put aside once and for all, the notion that minorities could not overcome whatever obstacles they had in front of them to achieve a happy and productive life. Being the first half black president, he could have inspired so many as to make a significant difference.
Instead, he did just the opposite, and went out of his way to prove they were victims, pretty much from Day 1. I thought that was inexcusable, and it had a huge impact in the opposite direction if you believe the polls on race relations. It laid the groundwork for where we are today with all the victim groups assault on Trump from Day 1 of his administration.
I give Obama a pass on his economic and foreign policy missteps. He simply wasn't equipped to deal with those issues.

If someone is not equipped I can not give the "pass". What scares me most in politics today is most elected officials are not prepared for the job or task at hand. What is the old saying on success? When preperation meets opportunity! If your not prepared, thus no success, thus no pass in my book.

He simply wasn't equipped to deal with those issues. thing I noticed right away is that on policy issue after policy issue (in particular Obamacare) he took the lefty, rather than the centrist, position every single time. He also had tin ears-ramming through Obamacare after the Scott Brown election was something that say Hillary Clinton wouldn't have done. Basically the end of his presidency-and made his reelection much tougher than it should have been. Only reason he won the 2nd time is that a) the R's nominated a guy in Romney who was spectacularly unsuited to challenge Obamacare's legitimacy, and b) he had an even bigger tin ear than Obama. His performance as US Senator proves this. |

Bear in mind, everyone knew Obama was I’ll prepared to run the country, but he was handled primarily by Rahm Emmanuel who surrounded him with his own gar left posse. |

When it comes to political experience, Obama was certainly the least qualified president we had elected since Dwight Eisenhower. However, he still had more applicable experience than Donald Trump, and he also knew something about the law and how the federal government works, to which Trump came into office completely oblivious.

Probably. So if a complete lack of political experience and an utter ignorance of basic civics are the new requisites for becoming president, by all means, lets elect Ted Nugent or Kanye West.

If you believe Edward Murrow was correct in his assessment of the public's appetite for entertainment v. knowledge, and the election of the past 2 presidents and the love affair with the "squad" seems to support this, qualifications for public office have been reduced to not much more than star power. |

Actually I believe Ted is very well versed on civics, government, the Constitution and even more so personal responsibility, individualism and liberty. He’s not alone. He’s just the most prominent to have made his legacy about it. Democrats have long tried to keep minorities, especially Blacks, down and subservient, and dependent on the government to “help” them, which the rest of us can see as “control” them. |
