MV has CenTen Huskies on the 16th @ Mission...
Notes: MV took a week off after MD game and has been in the weight room ever since, currently in their dead period. First game in Hawaii 8/23...

Los Al scheduled down and put MD on the calendar for a scrimmage on 8/16. Needed the ego boost.

CDM has scrimmaged MV, JS and SM just a couple days ago. MV and JS were in the same week previous and we did better against JS than MV and SM we did real well...

Yah...CDM setting BIG expectations, they have dudes, after this year bye bye D3, they should run the Division table...barring injuries, depth always an issue for teams not named Bosco or MD. Is this CDM’s best team ever?
Wake up call last year when they ran into JS in during football season.
When the pads come on and it gets’ real...different deal!
4 quarters...
Special teams...
Offense wins games....
Defense wins championships...
Nothing more except scrimmages are as far from a contest as practice is from a game, kind of like smelling your food and actually tasting it...must be the poached eggs...

Nothing more except scrimmages are as far from a contest as practice is from a game, kind of like smelling your food and actually tasting it...must be the poached eggs... Not sure where to start here PTG! First and foremost CDM doesn't have "expectations", they set goals. As for D3 "bye bye" yes that is possible depending on their success this season. In todays HSF landscape a small public with limited ability to recruit and become a destination school will be very hard pressed to win constantly at D1/2. CDM is a team (to date) that just can not reload positions or players via means of replacement. CDM will continue to live by development of local talent from within the district which has many limitations in which I think we all understand. Geo-Economics. It will be very interesting to see how the program after this season moves forward. CDM Athletics is one of the best, it can attract talent from outside the area on that alone but is it feasible or possible for student and family. With the mobility of student athletes and their families today CDM is at a disadvantage. It may change in todays new era and I could be wrong. Not sure if I hope I am.... D3 running the table? I see this division as one of the deepest and balanced of all from 1-16 seed. CDM would have to get revenge for last years CIF Championship loss to Grace Brethren, while I expect Westlake, Lawndale, Alemany, La Habra and Los Al to all be tough match-ups. Is this CDM's best team ever? Without standout (D1) player talent you won't get any argument there. YES! Yet this years team is much deeper on offense than the "Big 3" of Garbers, Humphreys and Redman. WR's Bradley Schlom and Simon Hall make for one of the most dynamic receiving corps in school history. If you have watched any summer ball these guys have carved up all comers it was only a final loss against SJB that finally figured a way to beat them. Yes, the pads, CDM is ready, making two CIF Finals in the last 3 years and now with a senior heavy team I am sure they are fully aware. CDM has much game experience for this upcoming season led by an ELITE 11 SR QB. As for that loss last year, call it what you may "wake up call" but scheduling at the time a weaker Trinity League team wasn't as far as a reach for a team like CDM on the rise. Not understanding how a private school like JSerra could completely remodel the program and recruit a new team and coach was lack of foresight by the coaching staff. Top that with basically a squad of juniors playing in their first game of the season on the road equalled what you coined "wake up call" and a bad night.

The situation Corona del Mar finds itself in is the perfect example of what is most wrong with the CIF's divisional placement system. In 2018 and 2019, CdM will have arguably the best teams in its history. The result will be that they likely get moved up to Division 1/2 in 2020 -- exactly when the talent that caused that rise is graduating. It's the 2020 team with considerably less talent that will pay the price for the CIF's archaic ignorance.

It's the 2020 team with considerably less talent that will pay the price for the CIF's archaic ignorance. Yet what CIF is using more so as a model to justify is that it is NOW the PROGRAM and it is the PROGRAM that will quickly replace this talent which is why they have moved up the ranks... CDM is I agree an "old" model which could get very lost in all this should it not "reload" positions every season. CDM is still for the most part going to suffer from graduating classes like no other. However, this class of 2020 as stated by MDDad as arguably the best at CDM ever has gained much state and national attention. There is a new Frosh QB in town (via Colorado) that appears to be a stud, got to see my first reps at the HB 7v7 on Saturday. It gave me an entire new perspective. Success + coaching + AD + support both fanbase and money has the attention now of parents, families and students looking to get to a program that offers great sport and better yet great education. Check those boxes at CDM. Side note, playing SC in the final on Saturday was kinda like really? Knowing the team last year and how epic that match-up and game was.... SC on Saturday was platooning transfers and recruits to reload as oppose to play with what they had last year. If this is what it takes to be the best now again I will say it will be very interesting how CDM moves ahead from here.

We played them pretty close in 2016 when they were under Hartigan. But in 2017, it felt like Butch and Sundance saying "who ARE those guys". The McLain brothers showed up on the scene, along with a few more I think. This was in Harlow's 1st season at the helm. It didn't help much losing the right side of our OL in the first 2 plays, but we were definitely overmatched.

"who are those guys"! Give or take a couple I think it was about 25 transfers on GB..., out of nowhere in two seasons they won D8 'Ship then next D4 'Ship.... teams assembled in about a season and a half. Same thing a couple seasons previous with Sierra Who?

Well at least Sierra is up competing with the top programs. They really seem like an academy school, cut from the IMG cloth.

Same thing a couple seasons previous with Sierra Who? GB has been known as a "destination" school for the last few years. Ive watched the the championship game several times, they ran the "vs CDM" gameplan perfectly: take the blows from CDM O in first half and grind them down their D in the second half..... Hence why I still believe (even though its Los Al) would have won the lightening game
