SF O-LINE did a stellar job for 3 Q's in holding the LA D-LINE from getting to QB. Cincy O-LINE won't replicate that. Boy Burrow better be Boy Wonder to win this game.

You have got to be able to give your QB time if you want to keep a defense on its heels. I don't know how well Burrow moves around, but the fact that he got sacked nine times indicates that it's not that much. I don't think Cinci can win if they don't get a big improvement in O line play.

Sacks can be a very misleading stat. If your ends are pushing hard up field to get their sack, they can create huge running lanes. Seemed to me the Rams lack of sacks was by design more so than anything SF did. Control the LOS / running game, and force JG to go over the top. Despite being sacked 9 times, burrow still threw for nearly 350 yds against a very good Ten defense on the road.

It seemed to me that Aaron Donald lined up over the center or guard to take the double-team and clog up the middle much more than he normally does. It had to be by design. In the last minute and a half, when Garoppolo had to pass, he moved back outside and brought his typical pressure.

Just like every now and then Appalachian State beats Michigan, but don't count on a trend developing. I'll go way out on a limb and say that if the Rams sack the guy nine times, Cinci is toast. It won't happen, obviously, but without better pass protection than they've recently shown Cinci isn't going to win..............................Luca

I think we'd all agree that Burrow is a better quarterback than Garoppolo. That's really not the issue.
I am not sure what conclusion to draw from those graphics other than Burrow threw throw more to the outside in that one game whereas Garoppolo more likely threw the center of the field vs the Rams in game #2. You will also notice that Garoppolo threw far fewer passes in the second game, although the stats overall are not bad. The difference was that the Rams controlled the football in the second game as opposed to the first, giving him less opportunity. 15 of 19 for 182 yards is not a bad stat given the relatively few passes thrown.
And while Burrow does have a positive CPOE he also has a virtually 100% CTWOYA....................Luca

The idea is that with Burrow, the Rams will have to defend more of the field than they did with SF. This opens up running lanes for Mixon, who is a lot tougher to bring down than the SF RB's. This will require Lbers to stay closer to the LOS, and allow guys like Higgins & Boyd to work behind them in single coverage (or in front of the safeties) while they double Chase...and Burrow can make plays with his feet.
Rams were an easy dropped pick away from losing to a SF team with a QB that can't throw outside the numbers, or beyond 15 yds.
I think the Rams are in trouble. This from a lifelong Rams fan.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying. It's clear that Cincinnati is going to get its points, but victory is obtained not by shutting out the other team, just preventing them from running wild - and thereby outscoring them. My point being that if Cincinnati does not do a better job protecting its offensive driver then they are not going to score sufficient points to win the game. I'm not breaking any new ground here, other than possibly for MDDad who keeps wondering why everyone abandoned the Notre Dame box shift that worked so well for Knute Rockne.
The Rams will be able to score themselves, I'm pretty confident. And, yes, Rams are in trouble. But so is Cincinnati. It looks like a pretty well matched game but I see a greater potential weakness for Cincinnati than I do the Rams.......................Luca

Although neither driver at QB has been to a Super Bowl, one has played in the NFL for a good amount of time, the other not. Will be a big factor, mind you an unknown, how a second year player deals on the biggest of stages. And dont forget, its on the road for real as the rams are truly a Super Bowl "HOME" team.

It should be pointed out that the reason Knute Rockne abandoned the Notre Dame Box Shift is because you graduated and he had no successor to run it.

Yeah, well at least I graduated. You were a sixth year senior when I enrolled and were still being tutored in long division after I got my doctorate.
The school finally grandfathered you into a courtesy diploma just to finally get you and your raccoon coat off campus.

Luca, it's impolite to reflect on old stories without reflecting on their entirety. You neglected to mention that your "doctorate" was in Transgender Empathy & Holistic Therapy. That may be why your practice is now largely limited to "women" with orchitis.
And I'd almost forgotten that old racoon coat. Please thank your grandson for catching and skinning the coons to make it.
