1. I propose that, much like Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, That Other Board shall never be referred to by name. Instead it shall be called TOB.
2. Next Tuesday, Feb. 19, marks the one-month anniversary of our boycotting that forum. JQP has definitely noticed our absence, along with the drop in post count, interest and board viewership. It's up to each of us to decide whether or not we want to return to that uninviting cesspool. I say the hell with them. What say you?
3. Shame on one of our members for breaking our solidarity and returning to post on TOB earlier this week. Coach, how could you?

For the record when I was invited I was not aware of this boycott per say as I did not participate in the political forum. So are you talking not going back to the political forum or the entire OCConnect? As in NO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL either?

So are you talking not going back to the political forum or the entire OCConnect? As in NO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL either? Curious about that also. I think Coach was the target of that post, SK, rather than you. But...remember that other board shall not be named, and is to be referred to only as TOB.   |

If it were my call, I'd say everyone participate on the high school forum all you want, but still boycott the political side. We were told repeatedly that "elections have consequences". Well, so should banning people for punitive, political reasons.

I hereby will abide by the boycott rule and if necessary I will quit. They make me sick anyways. Besides, have patience, I am getting a special new member soon. That will be my atonement. |

But thanks to Bick and your participation we have turned lemons into lemonade with this current forum. Let JQP have his four-man liberal sewing circle on the political side, but absent the creation of a new H.S. sports forum, there's no reason anyone here shouldn't feel free to resume activity on the sports side of TOB. Somewhere down the road, if you find a new member on TOB who supports the Friars, you'll know who it is..... |

Lemons to lemonade...one of my favorite sayings. My absence from TOB is more a function of needing a permanent change of scenery than a temporary boycott. It was damn near impossible to have an honest discussion. Credo getting the ax was the final straw for me as well.
Fact is, most of those I enjoy engaging with on the political side participate here, and it's mainly because I believe all of us are willing to both take a position, and more importantly, concede the point if a better argument is presented. I think it was MDD that said it's easier to pick up a watermelon seed with a baseball bat than get one of the posters over there to take a clear position.
As far as I'm concerned, this is more of a "We" than a "Me" forum. If any of you would like to moderate a High School forum here, let me know and I'll figure out how to get that accomplished. I've got no designs on running a competing, revenue-generating board, and would prefer to keep objectivity as the key differentiator of the participants. That gets challenging when HS sports is involved as each of us flies under a competing banner, but I think the discussion would be engaging with this group.
A little more than 3 weeks in, I've got to say I'm pretty excited about the direction of this forum. Nice work fellas.

I began my own boycott of TOB 2 years ago. I'd had enough of their condescending BS. I was one of the originals over there, and I just had enough. I'm glad to be asked to join here and renew old friendships without being called a racist or stupid every other post. Nasty people over there for sure.

If any of you would like to moderate a High School forum here, let me know and I'll figure out how to get that accomplished. Does high school football (or any other sport) really need its own forum? Why not start high school football threads (or any other topic) in this one? |
