Apparently a "solution" is far off...

No solution in sight..., maybe start with todays youth as it is becoming apparent the damage they have suffered in recent times by bad policy, indoctrinated schooling and inbreed hatred for others...

First things First, stop the bleeding and harden the targets with armed security. See what that does to all the shootings before trying the next countermeasures

Which targets do you propose should be hardened? And if that's done, what will prevent sick shooters from simply moving on to other soft targets?

I think we need to look closer at the precursor(s)...

I think we need to look closer at the precursor(s)... Someone ought to ask Greg if he thought we'd have won our independence from England without it.

Someone ought to ask Greg if he thought we'd have won our independence from England without it. Actually, we won our independence from England for three main reasons. One was the assistance of France. The second was that we had very short supply lines that did not need to cross an ocean to reach us. And third, we had the same weapons that the English army did. I assume you're not advocating that American citizens be allowed to stockpile hand grenades, rocket launchers, flame throwers, fighter jets, tanks, aircraft carriers and nuclear arms to make the fight as even as it was then. Short of that, the argument to keep handguns and rifles to potentially fight off a government dictatorship is very akin to bringing a water pistol to a modern military fire fight.

Sporting events and concerts seem to have figured it out pretty well. After that...haven't given it much thought. I'm not sure sporting events and concerts have figured it out as much as they just haven't been targeted yet. So let's start with your proposal. There are roughly 135,000 schools in America and 115,000 shopping malls. Let's say we harden them all and potential shooters have to move on to other targets. There are millions of parks, office buildings, stores, post offices, churches, restaurants and other sites they could choose. The bottom line is that the math is against you. There are now 330 million people in America and an estimated 465 million firearms, many of them unregistered and illegal. It only takes one unbalanced guy every day to get his hands on one of those weapons to result in a mass shooting every day. I'm not convinced hardening selected targets makes it a whole harder for them to do that.

Harden one target, they move to the next soft target. Checkmate.

No I don't think us having arms will allow us to overthrow the government. I do think citizens bearing arms back then was an integral part of defeating the British, and was a key part of the development of the country. At what point would we unwind history to have a country without citizens being armed?

It's not the number of arms, but the number of bad guys wanting to shoot up the place we should be talking about. There's about a million times more good guys than bad here, so wouldn't the math be in my favor if we united and figured it out?

Did Biden or his handlers hack into MDDad's computer? Does anyone really think that if one side of these divided states of America were to launch a revolution, that it would involve AR-15s versus Aircraft carriers, B2 bombers dropping nukes, or nuclear submarines launching missiles? Nothing would be that black and white. Federal military forces would be facing defections, either by individuals, or in small groups. Would there be disillusioned general (s) who decided to bring some of the forces loyal to them to the states they favor. Do we have some Robert E. Lee(s) out there who would have more allegiance to their state(s) than to a totalitarian federal government that wants them to destroy the forces loyal to those states? A lot of those weapons mentioned, are located in what would be rebel states, for example, as are a lot of the members of the US armed forces. Do we have a Julius Caesar of our own who would cross the Rubicon (Potomac?). I imagine General Flynn would have motivation, if he had the men and the resources. Would small arms battles be the start of the war, or would civilians be motivated to join hostilities started by larger forces? Either way the heavily armed American people would present problems for the totalitarians from other states. Would there be other nations involved at some point? The French were mentioned in the American revolution. They didn't overtly join us until the American defeated the British at Saratoga, two and a half years after Lexington and Concord.
