THIS WEEKEND'S RESULTS
344 - SK80 332 - Professor Fate 292 - MDDad 262 - Credo 183 - Bick DNP - Playthegame
SK80 and Professor Fate picked all 30 games correctly. Since this is the second week in a row that SK80 has accomplished that feat, an impeachment inquiry has been initiated. There are credible rumors that he places a phone call to the president of Ukraine every Thursday for foreign help in making his selections. As soon as we can determine how he posts his picks AFTER the games have already been played, his ass will be gone and Mike Pence will take his place in the pool.
SEASON STANDINGS
1,495 - SK80 1,426 - Professor Fate 1,420 - MDDad 885 - Bick 880 - Credo 544 - Playthegame

Those two do have something to play for however, just 5 points separate them from the cellar! As for any inquiry into my actions taken to be perfect, I simply look at myself in the mirror and say "Mirror Mirror on the wall, which teams tonight will win it all"

I feel reluctant to post this because I really appreciate what these guys do for high school sports here in Orange County. I think they write good articles and do great coverage of our high school athletes and games. In all fairness they probably root for the under-dogs to be balanced as journalists and the kids playing sport from all divisions and leagues, yet over the past two weeks your truly has gone 15-0 two weeks in a row. These two are coming in at .500 this past week!
I think its MDDA whom has stated that most of us here know more about high school football than the guys at OCR and LAT's. I use to think you could only know so much about so many teams, but ya we do know quite a bit evidently!
Steve Fryer and Dan Albano make their predictions for this week’s top high school football games.
WEEK 7 FRYER ALBANO Servite vs. Mater Dei Mater Dei Mater Dei Magnolia vs. Katella Katella Katella Foothill vs. El Modena Foothill Foothill Santa Ana vs. Calvary Chapel Calvary Chapel Santa Ana Orange Lutheran vs. Santa Margarita Orange Lutheran Orange Lutheran St. John Bosco-JSerra St. John Bosco St. John Bosco Edison vs. Corona del Mar Corona del Mar Corona del Mar San Juan Hills vs. Aliso Niguel San Juan Hills San Juan Hills Woodbridge vs. Northwood Northwood Woodbridge Brea Olinda vs. Yorba Linda Yorba Linda Yorba Linda
Last week’s record: 6-4 5-5 Season record: 54-16 50-20

I think the difference is that I pick the 15 games every week involving the county's best teams. Maybe Fryer and Albano pick some games merely because they figure they will be close. But either way, a 50-20 record is pretty awful.
I think maybe starting with Game 8, I'll pick the 15 county games that figure to be the closest. That will start a real bloodbath in which many of us will have negative numbers for the week, and the standings will change drastically from one week to the next. All in favor?

I think they may get to close to the schools they cover and make decisions/predictions on some of the wrong reasoning.....
As for changing our pool rules as you may remember I was not for the point spread thing as I was not certain if you picked MD by 43, 56 or 62 it made little correlation to your knowledge of the teams and games. Basically it comes down to do you think the starters will sit or not sit the second half? Meaningless predictions. However, I really do not like CHANGING the RULES mid-game regardless of any flaws in it.... I think at the beginning I objected to the big spread games according to Calpreps. And thought maybe when choosing your games do start with the county best list yet if the spread is more than an agreed amount (2 possessions, 3 possessions 4?) or (20 points or more?). Since we are OC based here you could take the OCV Top 25 teams and start top to bottom and skip any game as you go down the ranking list that has that spread exceeding what we can agree on.
I just quickly screened the games this week, in your 15 there are 6 games with spreads of 28 or more. If that for example was the cut off you would need to find 6 replacement games.
Its your appreciated time MDDad..., always happy to be a part of any suggestion process!
Or... to make things real interesting, each entry/player in the pool gets to pick the 15 games as each week goes on.... week 1 MDD, week 2 Credo, week 3 Bick and so on... Hmmmm? Maybe? Next year?

OK, I'm seeing a pattern here, and I suspect others are seeing it too. It's Thursday afternoon, game day for three of the fifteen games, and NOBODY has posted their picks yet. I suspect that some individuals here are waiting to copy off the papers of the early posters. I've had my picks ready to post since Tuesday night, but I wanted to see who would post first, and who would post last. No results yet to analyze. So, I studied the previous 7 weeks and I found some interesting results: Bick's picks were posted 1st, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th. MDDad's picks were posted 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 5th, 5th, 1st, 3rd. P. Fate's picks were posted 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd. Credo's picks were posted -, -, 5th, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 1st. PTG's picks were posted 5th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, -, -, -. SK80's picks were posted 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 4th, 5th, 5th. Just sayin'
