Trolley service to the backstop. Classic.

I don't care what era they played in, you're going to have a hard time convincing me there are any more feared hitters in baseball history than these two. Maybe Lou Gehrig or Joe DiMaggio, or Albert Pujols in the 2000's.

In 7.5 years, Trout has 274 HR, 774 walks with a career .306 average.
The last 4 full years (which included missing 40+ games in 2017 due to injury) he has averaged 35 hrs & 105 walks a season.
So basically he would have to stay healthy and play at the level he is at now for another decade to get there. That is a tough row to hoe.

It actually is a safer play, he went after the infielders midsection instead of ankles or knees.

I was just reminded of John Huarte (pronounced HEW’art).
Until I was five, we lived on an Orange ranch on the south side of La Palma, two houses east of St. Anthony’s ... The land on which St. Anthony’s was built was donated to the church by Joseph Huarte, John’s Dad, who lived with his family in the Spanish Colonial house between us and the church.
You will likely remember John for winning the Heismann Trophy in, I believe, 1966 while at Notre Dame. But one or two of you will recall his less-than-stellar football career quarterbacking the Mater Dei team in the early to mid 60’s.
Anyway, after a brief sting in the NFL (maybe with the Eagles?) he and his wife, Eileen, started up a Tile business they called Arizona Tile, which he still runs.
A few years back, I got to wondering what he was doing so I dropped him an email. Still a great guy to talk to.

But one or two of you will recall his less-than-stellar football career quarterbacking the Mater Dei team in the early to mid 60’s. That's an interesting evaluation, Dave. Huarte was 22-2 as a varsity starter, and led his team to the 1960 CIF AA championship. He was All-CIF and L.A. Times All-County as a junior and a senior, and he was All-CIF Player Of The Year and L.A. Times All-County Back Of The Year as a senior. He was All-State Medium Schools Player Of The Year as both a junior and a senior. What would you have considered a stellar career?
