Very interesting look at Cobb and the baseball of that time--and he comes across not nearly as bad as the racist caricature of him that's often portrayed. From what we know today, it's possible that Cobb may have been bipolar. Anyone who beats his roommate senseless because he took the wrong bunk in their room, or who goes into the stands to beat the crap out of a paraplegic fan who was heckling him, isn't playing with a full deck of cards.

Interesting fact: the Dodgers have won SEVEN World Series titles, but have only clinched ONE on their home field. Can you name which one?

The Dodgers clinched the '63 series at home.

Right. Many people may not remember that Gary Carter was an excellent high school quarterback as well, and signed a letter of intent to play QB at UCLA before being drafted by the Montreal Expos. He tragically died of brain cancer in his late 50's.

In a little over nine months, we've lost:
Infielders - Joe Morgan Outfielders - Hank Aaron, Al Kaline, Lou Brock Starting Pitchers - Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Whitey Ford, Phil Niekro, Don Sutton Manager - Tommy Lasorda
That's the start of a pretty good all-star team.
