My brother in law is a retired Ranger Col. That's hysterical... I'm sending him that one. My second son was a Ranger. Three tours in Afghanistan. He shook hands with George Bush at one of those unannounced Thanksgiving visit with the troops. He was outside minding his own business when somebody grabbed him and said they wanted some special forces guys to be seen with the President. So he was a photo-op prop. He was in the same unit as Pat Tillman (Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 75th Rangers out of Fort Lewis) . He joined up just as that unit return from its deployment in Afghanistan where Tillman was killed. He doesn't laugh about anything involving the military anymore.........................Luca

Since we are looking for funny stories………….
My daughter's boyfriend used to play guitar, which I had known for some time but didn’t realize that he was actually very good. We were sitting around with the family talking a few weeks ago when he mentioned that one of his good friends from earlier years and with whom he still kept in touch was a guitarist named "Slash." The name meant nothing to me, but my kids quickly told me he had been the lead guitarist for Guns ‘n Roses and is still one of the most prominent guitarists in rock music.
"We used to meet up once a week and go down and play at a local place. Other people would join us and we’d just play for ourselves or sometimes people would come to listen." Then he mentioned that one of the "other people" was somebody from Nirvana whose name I also didn’t know. He mentioned a few other major rock group members who would sometimes come and join them, and I think he might have even said Led Zeppelin. Not sure about the latter.
I was amazed. “How come you didn’t make a career out of it?”
"There was too much pressure and too much competition and I didn’t want to live like that."
Having been a drummer myself I asked him offhand "Who played drums for you?"
"His name was Richard Starkey."
I thought he was joking but he looked serious. I still didn’t believe him. "Are you kidding me? Do you know who Richard Starkey is?"
"Well, yeah. I found out later he was Ringo Starr."
"You’re serious? You were playing with Ringo Starr and didn’t even know who he was?"
“Nobody told me. He introduced himself as ‘Richard Starkey’ and doesn’t go by the name Ringo anymore and doesn’t want anybody mentioning the Beatles around him. Nobody told me he used to be a member of the Beatles. I just knew him as Richard. He was a real nice guy."
Amazing. A guy can be playing with Ringo Starr and not even know who the hell he is.

Some people always land on their feet.
My wife got a phone call few weeks ago from someone claiming to be from Apple computer informing her that her personal files and email had been hacked and someone had gained access to her computer. They managed to convince her they were legitimate (in her defense, my wife does have blond hair) and went through all these cyber exorcisms to "clean" her computer. It was all very detailed and convincing, she tells me.
After 90 minutes of computerese nonsense, it comes time for them to be paid for the service. Via some complicated reasoning I cannot duplicate they convinced her that credit cards wouldn’t work, cash was not acceptable, and only eBay gift certificates could be accepted for payment.
(It was at this point in the story that my jaw dropped and I asked her: "How could you be that stupid?" "I know, I know. I was such an idiot.")
So she goes down to wherever you by eBay gift certificates and buys two $200 gift cards. It’s only as she’s walking out of the store that it occurs to her that, y’ know, this sounds a little fishy. So she calls Apple computer directly, where they of course inform her the whole thing is a scam. But now she cannot redeem the gift certificates: she’s already paid for them. She calls the credit card company and because it was part of a scam they actually write off the bill, but cannot except the gift certificates in return.
The scammer, after spending 90 minutes laboring on his target, keeps calling her to get her to sign over the gift certificate to him, which of course she isn't going to do (she learns quick) and blocks his phone number. So, she winds up $400 ahead but best of all has infuriated the a-hole scammer who has just wasted 90 minutes expecting a payday and gotten inadvertently scammed himself.
There’s an old saying that it’s better to be lucky than good………………………………………………………..Luca

I would say your wife acted trustingly, not stupidly. She was honest enough to want to pay someone for a service it appeared they offered. A stupid person would not be able to even turn on the computer.
I'd love to find that guy who called her, to try & cheat good people is the ultimate low.
