Oh yeah, like the talent pool in the private school "district boundaries" your busses can't get to within 2 hours?? Puh-leeze Just did an informal survey of where my students on the varsity football team live. Here are the results: Anaheim (2) Brea Fullerton Huntington Beach (4) Irvine La Habra Rolling Hills Estates Tustin Yorba Linda This pretty much tracks with what you'll find in the student body. Shockingly, I couldn't find any kid who lived in North Long Beach, Carson, the IE, or who was shuttling back and forth from Stockton. Using your argument, shouldn't those kids be attending the private school closest to them? Of those 13 players, all but 3 of them (Anaheim & Fullerton) should be elsewhere. HB...Mater Dei Irvine & Tustin...Crean Rolling Hills...St Anthony? Brea & La Habra...Whittier Christian Yorba Linda...OLu

Great one handed catch shown in the CDM Clip, Russell Weir JR WR is legit. SR. QB David Rasor was on fire with 6 TD passes, the Sea Kings played their best game of the season. Chaparral came in with two better wins than the Sea Kings against Norco and Marietta Valley whom beat San Clemente, Murrieta Valley put 48 on SC in a win, and 49 on Chaparral and Bishop Amat in losses. CDM held them to 14 basically, they scored two Tis against JV in final 2 minutes on onside kicks.
Up next is a game I have wanted for some time, Yorba Linda and their 22 game win streak.
With the win Friday night, CDM moves into the Calpreps Top #25.

California Ranking on MaxPreps: They moved up four this week. When I use or think of Calpreps I think along the lines of California, for those whom do not and post asinine links to national polls I say... GO MONARCHS!

Meh... MaxPreps had Poly at #22 and Los Al #44 last week... Nationally.
Calpreps had Los Al favored to win by 10.
Which was closer to accurate?
Asinine is thinking those guys at MaxPreps have a clue.

HB...Mater Dei Irvine & Tustin...Crean Rolling Hills...St Anthony? Brea & La Habra...Whittier Christian Yorba Linda...OLu Actually, that's never been my argument vis-a-vis private schools, and makes absolutely no sense. "Private schools" can in no way be lumped together, as though they're all the same. They are differentiated in many, many ways: academics, religious tradition, enrollment, co-ed or single sex, athletics, extracurriculars, etc. If we applied this standard to all private schools, Mater Dei and Bosco would be playing D3 football at best. Students at the multiplicity of private schools cross over all kinds of boundaries, depending on what is most important to families. Having said that, they need to have internally regulated limits in order to maintain their integrity. Hence, the issue with St. John Bosco and Mater Dei, but every private school needs to keep this in mind, ours included. The problem is when Catholic or other private schools bring in kids--particularly from way beyond their geographic area--who clearly have no business being there other than to help the school win a CIF title.

One, Los Al is not echoing anything. My opinions only. Two, are you suggesting whatever Poly's accomplishments were in the leather helmet days has ANY bearing on where they are today as a program? Third, "whataboutism" is a classic liberal term used to diminish comparisons. Had my fill of it on TOB. Lastly, there are good reasons elite athletes now want to enroll at Los Al, and it started after a local parochial school raided us of 8 or so players and coaches. We ended up having to play freshmen at the varsity level. Now, incoming freshmen know they'll have a shot to compete for a starting spot on varsity where some other schools feel it's more important to keep the classes together and dominate the lower levels. I can't remember the last time Los Al won a lower level championship, so maybe that's the consolation prize for our league mates who might be wringing their hands about our recent success? So basically you're saying it's Servite's fault that Los Alamitos has been forced to stock their team with out-of-the-district freshman and senior transfers from North Long Beach? Interesting logic. Well, considering what's transpired on Cerritos Ave. since 2018 and where you're playing this week, you guys should probably be thanking us. I'm sure Edison and CdM will feel much better now about taking 35-point beatings over the next several years. I won't dare to wear my Servite gear at the Huntington Pier or Fashion Island anytime soon. I just might get smacked upside the head. Arguably, the only other schools in the entire Southern Section that have more freshman talent than Los Al are Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, which is pretty remarkable considering it's location. Any other school with kids that good would be playing them at the Varsity level as well. Look, I'm glad the Griffins are getting their day in the sun. You guys aren't breaking any CIF rules. Just don't be surprised when eyebrows are raised at a football squad that bears little or no resemblance to the rest of the school. Maybe that won't bother the people of Rossmoor and Seal Beach; it hasn't seemed to bother the parents and alumni of Mater Dei and Bosco. Forgive me for feely salty today. But we Friars have our own dumpster fire to contend with now. Call it Karma if you want. And you know what they say about Karma....

Cleary, MaxPreps wasn't clued in to the senior transfer from Long Beach Jordan. Not quite Raleek Brown level, but more valuable than Sean Dollar$. Like I said above....

If you look at the original post that I replied to, this is based on the idea that students could only attend the private school that was closest to them, which, of course makes no sense. We'd all be in the same boat.
