Dont underestimate what is going on with CDM "D".... on the staff this year is Shea McClellin 2016 New England Patriot Super Bowl Champion starting linebacker. (I still do not know how this happened?). CDM defense has been very dominant to date. Offense, well we all know what that is, Newport Harbor coach Lofthouse stated, that is a "historic" offense over there..... like I said, a MV, CDM, Servite any which way game would be an epic match-up. CDM beat both MV and Servite at Mission Viejo's big 7v7 tourney this past summer.

Since that PrepZone poll no longer includes Narbonne, it must have been tallied after the Gouchos were executed.

Did we quit our OC TOP 10 rankings? Did you all quit the high school sports forum? Are we nothing but a Mosh-Pit now......? I'll keep posting over here so I can share with myself....  This is a first for CDM FOOTBALL, a Calpreps TOP 10 ranking....., I was pretty ecstatic about it until I read into it that this will likely end us at 1A or just one game behind the OPEN! With all of the teams that didn’t play last week, there are no new ones that have moved up this week into this group from below. But with previous No. 10 Serra of San Mateo falling from the unbeaten ranks, there is at least some movement.
We didn’t drop the Padres out of the top 20, but have moved up previous No. 11 Corona del Mar into the top 10. Two others gaining positions are Sierra Canyon and Rancho Cucamonga.

Truly a remarkable feat, recognition of what this program has accomplished. Today the calpreps/Maxpreps rankings were released vaulting Corona del Mar to #3 is state and #12 in nation. Agree, disagree, no matter how you may see it or rank it, a marvel of an achievement for a small school in a small geographic district playing with kids predominately if not exclusively from their own backyards. The victories and margins in those wins have really been a catalyst for this rank ascension. Couldn't be more proud of my guys. Hope they keep the focus and intensity for state.

Sorry man... You played one D2 team on that list. Don't see you beating Cen10 or MV at a minimum. Not sure about Servite or a few others either.
Great D3 team... Class of the state for the division.

SC and Servite would no doubt be a game but I would take Servite in that one. SC has good defense and not enough offense. SC held Grace to 7 points. Thats impressive. Servite has an impressive offense in the air, that is what i would question with SC can they stop that kind of attack. JSerra has actually been awful. An offense that can't score. No passing game what so ever. Which puts me @bicks comment believing CC is all that. JSerra is their best win. San Clemente is actually ranked higher. CC also lost to Cathedral Catholic. CDM would trash any of those SD schools. CC has a bunch of great athletes but they didn't prove out to me to be a great team. CDM trashed them as well in 7v7 last summer to boot. And CC has a higher than normal SOS because they scheduled MD and SJB. Kudos for trying but getting beat by 40 does not make a case. CDM has taken on everything put in front of them. Teams equal to them in Service and CC. However they ARE undefeated and has not only won but THRASHED those teams by double digits. There is only one team I see that could hang and thats MV, because of their defense. Yet I would have to see it to believe it. You of course are entitled to your opine, yet that as you have shown all season is not only in the minority but has been wrong all season. Anyone over CDM by 3 Didn't you just get spotted yet again 14 points and Grace...? You got doubled up yet again by 28! Let me add another opine, regarding your criticism about beating any D2 teams, CDM would win D2 CIF as well. Sierra Canyon the champs whom beat Grace Brethren by 6. No way no how SC the best of D2 bests CDM. |

Can we stop with the myth of MV’s great defense? Once they played anyone decent, they gave up a ton of points in their two playoff games. Overall they had a decent defense, but I wasn’t overly impressed.

Thanks, friarjoe, you're absolutely right. I suppose every qualitative judgement is somewhat subjective and relative, but the truth is the Mission Viejo defense was better than average. Period.
