(1) If true should they not get rid of "AUTO QUALIFIERS"? Question for the brain trust.
(2) Glad we got this out of the way, MDDad has done what only Jimmy the Greek could do........
(1) Either get rid of auto-qualifiers or limit it to league champs and co-champs, like it used to be. Penalizing a team for playing in a strong league makes no sense to me. (2) Sorry if you don't like today's reality. If you can guarantee you will have a Garbers, Humphreys and Redman every year, you can compete with the Corona Centennials of the world. If you can't, you can't. And if you want me fired like Jimmy the Greek, just talk to Bick.

@bick, when do you see Los Al making their schedule? Wk 1 TBD - Bishop Gorman said no, so maybe travel to another Vegas area team. Travel to AK also in the mix 2 - Paramount 3 - @ Western 4 - @ Sta Margarita 5 - St Paul Gorman said "No"? That would be a mighty feat to have them on your schedule but seeing they doubled up Servite last year not sure how ugly that game would turn out Like the rest of your schedule. It is formidable and appears competitive.

(2) I know this is going to sound racially and economically insensitive, but Corona del Mar will never consistently be "the best public school football program out there" unless they find a way to bring more African-American and Polynesian athletes into the program. And that is a very difficult challenge, given where they are located. The school has enjoyed the perfect storm for the last two years, but a program that relies almost exclusively on millionaire "white boys" will likely never match up with the other top public programs in Southern California over the long term. And there's the secret sauce that St. John Bosco (since 2013) and Mater Dei (since 2016) have committed themselves to in order to reach the current pinnacle of imbalance with the rest of HSFB. With all due respect, any other explanations are mere window-dressing. To get theological, grace builds on nature. It's not cheating or against CIF rules. Just own it.

Are we doing 2020 schedules already?
Always unreliable this early, but I've heard two (contradictory) things about Servite's schedule. This from HUDL:
vs Mission Viejo High School
Friday, 28 Aug. at 7:00 p.m.
@ Crespi High School
Friday, 4 Sept. at 7:00 p.m.
vs Cajon High School
Friday, 11 Sept. at 7:00 p.m.
But, the PrepGridiron.com site says the "Trinity vs USA" extravaganza at SJ Bosco, has Servite playing on Thursday (per Jason Negro) against an out of state team TBD. Then Bosco on Friday, and J Serra and Mater Dei in the Saturday games. Last year, those games were the 2nd week in September so...?

First of all, it IS cheating. Virtually all talented football players, whether transfers or incoming freshman, engage in what the CIF calls "pre-enrollment contact" with the schools they are considering. That is a fact, and it's true at St. John Bosco, Mater Dei, Servite, JSerra, Orange Lutheran and a multitude of other top programs. It is a clear violation of the rules, and it is therefore cheating.
And second, I think I've always owned up to the fact that certain ethnic groups tend to improve the quality of a football program. If you want to call that a secret sauce, I have no objections. What I find disappointing is the fact that you and others won't own up to the fact that schools like Servite, JSerra and Orange Lutheran have been working twice as hard to find the same secret sauce, and only come up with half the results.

Can you at least acknowledge that some, or all the schools you mentioned (and maybe a lot more) have been forced by Mater Dei and Bosco to either imitate them, or be left in the dust? For the record, I'd prefer to break up the Trinity League and join a new league made up of teams that don't want to imitate MD and Bosco.

Count us out of this saucy recipe! And the" Trophy Bowl of Sauce" goes to those whom do the cooking TWICE as good or double the "results"!

Not true, sir. I've been at the school for a decade and see no discernible difference in the make-up of our kids over that period of time. That's not because of a "lack of results"; it's that we're not trying to build a college football team on the HS level. Mater Dei, on the other hand, is unrecognizable from just five years ago; Bosco a few years beyond that. As I said, MD and Bosco simply need to concede the decision they've made, own it, and not accuse everyone else of merely failing to be as successful at creating a football academy. It's simple: Jason Negro started this in the Trinity League; Mater Dei got tired of getting its butt kicked by little brother and decided to join the party. What--it took Bruce Rollinson 25 years to figure out that more black and Polynesian kids might improve his winning pct? Obviously not--he simply decided he needed to do whatever it took to keep up with Negro. Why wasn't he already doing this between 1990-2015? Mater Dei never took in transfers like Dollars and Criddell but still figured out how to field a winner without requiring D-1 kids at virtually every position. Any private school COULD do the same thing (see Sierra Canyon) ; don't pretend the Big Two have some patent on the process. I can't speak for the OLU, SM, and JSerra but Servite simply will not go down that road. And if that means a perennial 3rd place finish in the current environment, so be it.

Scheduling Mission Viejo..... PRO: good to have a Trinity League-level opponent to match up against CON: we just played them and have a very good chance of meeting them again in the D-1 playoffs; what's to gain? PRO: if we beat them we should have a better chance of getting a higher seed and a home game for the playoffs Personally, I'd rather see La Habra, Bishop Amat, Alemany, or even Bishop Gorman again. Heck, I'd like to see us go up against Corona Centennial even. There was some talk among the players about a possible Hawaii trip but that feels like aping St. John Bosco so I'm glad it hasn't materialized for now.

Dan Albano, just two days ago, says Servite's schedule includes: Mission Viejo @ Servite Konawaena of Hawaii @ Mission Viejo Liberty of Henderson Nev. in a showcase in Las Vegas Desert Pines of Nevada @ Mission Viejo ?? No mention of dates, and no mention of who the fifth opponent is.
