Woke Liberalism already tried to ruin the NFL; is it now the NBA's turn? Shut Up and Dribble. Dude can’t decide which team he wants to play for... been dropped by several companies as their spokesman... must be a slow news day when the media pays him any attention at all.

The recent flap over the NBA and Houston Rockets G.M. Daryl Morey's tweet in support of Hong Hong has further exposed some internal contradictions within U.S. corporate culture. While big businesses in America have been increasingly willing to wade into culturally and politically divisive areas (usually on the liberal side; i.e., "Woke Capitalism"), they are not so willing to say a thing about, say, China's serious human right abuses for fear of jeopardizing access to the vast Chinese retail market or its equally vast supply of cheap labor.
In other words, they've been bought off by the Red Dragon. The same dynamic was evident as the Clinton Foundation was happy to accept millions in donations from Saudi Arabia, while nary a discouraging word was uttered by Hillary about that regime's equally horrendous human rights record.
USA Today opinion writer Dan Wolken recently blasted LeBron James for his tone-deaf remarks on Morey and China--and I think deservedly so.

Disagreeing with Daryl Morey's tweet is Lebron James' right as an American citizen, although it paints him as pro-repression and authoritarianism. What I found most heinous about his objection is when he said "Morey could have waited a week." The Lakers were in China for a series of games and promotional appearances that would have compensated them financially, and the timing of the tweet caused some of those events to be cancelled. I believe James is one of only two American sports billionaires (Tiger Woods is the other one), and he's upset because Morey's timing may have cost him a few bucks? I guess in Lebron's world, standing up for liberty and freedom is always secondary to his making even more money that he doesn't need.
I've always had this nagging feeling that James is not much more than a greedy, selfish bastard, and this revelation lends credence to my feelings.

No matter what the motivation is, what the hell does this say about the quality of life in China?
