www.lifesitenews.com/news/pope-francis-global-education-pactPope Francis invites religious, political leaders to sign ‘Global Pact’ for ‘new humanism’ “A global educational pact is needed to educate us in universal solidarity and a new humanism,” Francis said in a video message to launch the initiative. A Vatican-backed website launched to promote the pact added: “Educating young people in fraternity, in learning to overcome divisions and conflicts, promote hospitality, justice and peace: Pope Francis has invited everyone who cares about the education of the young generation to sign a Global Pact, to create a global change of mentality through education.” “This,” he said, “will result in men and women who are open, responsible, prepared to listen, dialogue and reflect with others, and capable of weaving relationships with families, between generations, and with civil society, and thus to create a new humanism.” Quoting Hillary Clinton’s favorite aphorism, “It takes a village to raise a child,” Pope Francis asserted the need to create an “educational village,” in which “all people, according to their respective roles, share the task of forming a network of open, human relationships.” This Pope is turning the Catholic Church into a new UN. Any of you have children or grand children in Catholic school?

What the Pope proposes sounds great...if there were no bad guys in the world.

It's all too easy to dismiss efforts such as this. Cynicism comes easily to us all.
"Cynicism - the intellectual cripple's substitute for intelligence." (Joseph Russell Lynes...whoever that is)
But you have to keep trying. "You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try." (Beverly Sills

The pagan idols used at the Amazon synod at the Vatican were stolen and thrown in the river.

This, too, shall pass. Francis will not be around forever and then there will be a correction to the center.

Correction? I thought he was infallible...

Correction? I thought he was infallible... Politics infects even the most benign intentions. Only when he speaks ex-cathedra, which is pretty rare.

Correction? I thought he was infallible... Politics infects even the most benign intentions. The doctrine of Infallibility does not apply to every decision of the Pope or to his personal character. It is very narrowly confined to particular dogmatic pronouncements on matters of faith and morals. What the Professor posted above is correct. As for "politics" infecting the Church, the Church is understood as divinely instituted by Christ yet composed of fallen human beings, so it is not completely immune to such things. While the Church is neither Left nor Right there are inevitably fluctuations based on its leadership. A new Pope cannot alter teachings on faith and morals but can certainly choose what policies or issues to prioritize. Pope Francis is viewed by most as a more "progressive" figure than his two immediate predecessors, John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

Yes, thank you, I was being facetious.
From a historical perspective perhaps one of the greatest understatements on this board.
That's perfectly fine with me, I think the Catholic Church could use a little progress, but I suspect you're not so fine with it.
