Vilepagan playing the victim card...……………………. In lieu of rational thought, all he has is these attempts to either blame someone else for his own poor behavioral choices or, failing that, blame someone like Brad who isn’t here to defend himself. all in his own interest of dragging this community down to a level in which he is more comfortable dwelling. sure, I can and will stop calling him names. I can also, but will not, stop pointing out his aberrant behavior.

You wouldn't recognize a rational thought if you had one.
Except we all know you were already in the sewer before I ever got here. I know you don't like the truth, but all you have to do is read the posts. I know you can read.
Sure.

I can also, but will not, stop pointing out his aberrant behavior. I've been thinking a bit about why I clicked the mouse a few times to start this board, and selfishly speaking, I did it to get away from the people on the other board I didn't enjoy engaging with. Left last January, and haven't posted there since. I like the topics we discuss here, the humor, the way we debate, and the fact we're not bound by some arbitrary officiating of political correctness. I also like the fact we don't have "rules" beyond being hard on the issue, but easy on the person. Better yet, whatever rules we choose to abide by are being discussed and agreed upon amongst each other. I don't think any of us really anticipated someone being active here that brought with him the degree of mutual animosity that's apparent. But I'm confident we'll figure it out. Is it better than what I left? For me, without a doubt. But let's face it, that is a very personal and subjective question. I think non-compelled participation is the best indicator of enjoyment / better use of one's time.

A variety of perspectives is always better than Monolithic thought on a message board. But that presupposes an intellectual honesty and willingness to listen, if not seriously consider.
We have some contributors here who are staunchly conservative and others who are more moderate. We have some who have an open mind and some who don’t. But we don’t have somebody from the left side of the political spectrum with an open mind, and that limits reasonable discussion. But there’s not much we can do about that that I can see.
If you have the stronger argument you don’t need to get vituperative. When the other guy does, it tells you that he knows he’s losing his point and has to resort to taunts because he hopes to at least emerge victorious on the junior high level. That’s all he has left in the armamentarium to save his pride. You’ve made your point. You’ve won. Don’t expect an acknowledgment, it’s never going to come. Sometimes the best you can attain is the other guy getting pissed off. I offer for your consideration the example of Wabash, the TOB house intellectual.
In summary: “Don’t like Max, don’t read Max.”...............Luca

Sorry. “Max” refers to Max Cady, erstwhile stream of Consciousness thinker who resides on Alpha Centauri and would occasionally share his insight on Newport Harbor, the Moose, and his own glorious past...........Luca

I remember Max...and Moose. I was part of the local Wendy's franchise group that awarded Moose the Wendy's HS Heisman.

The Heisman High School Scholarship continues the legacy of the Wendy’s® High School Heisman® Scholarship, a program created in 1994 by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas in partnership with The Heisman Trophy Trust. From its inception, the program has leveraged the reputation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy as a symbol of great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. Over the past 25 years, the program has honored more than 600,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors and provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships to students and more than a million dollars to high school academic and athletic programs across the country. The Heisman High School Scholarship program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athletes. By inviting students from schools across the country to share their stories of leadership and impact, the program aims to inspire all students to harness their potential, push their limits, and use their talents not only to advance their own futures, but to improve the communities and world around them. heismanscholarship.com/about/

Luca is the human dictionary of this forum. I sometimes find myself just sitting here engaged in omphaloskepsis while waiting for his next pearl.

I felt sorry for Moose... raised his entire life by a man trying to recreate his college glory through his son. Moose was brilliant and skilled up to a point, only to flame out once he ended his college career. anyone know what he’s doing now?
