In case you missed it while paying such close attention to... ahem... OTHER pursuits in Congress, I came across this little tidbit in The Daily Wire: House Votes to Fund Space Force
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed a $738 billion bill that would start funding President Trump’s much-cherished Space force. The U.S. Space Force would take some existing personnel and shift them to the Space Force, which would become a new branch of the military... ...The Hill reported, “Space Force would be housed in the Department of the Air Force in a structure similar to the Marine Corps’s relationship to the Department of the Navy. The service would be led by the chief of space operations, who would report directly to the secretary of the Air Force and become a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”
For those wondering WHAT THE HECK ??? As I did (although I’ve heard the term before), I took the liberty of looking up the Wikipedia on the Space Corps

So much is going on in space with offensive and defensive weapons (who knows what they are doing with the X-37?) and there is so much progress that it's inevitable that space is going to be militarized in the near future. It may already be for all we know.
It's better to get organized and do it right sooner rather than later. Hopefully this won't just be another redundant bureaucracy that generates lots of high ranks with little to show for it. I suspect most of it will be invisible to us because of the technology and secrecy required.
In addition, they could start up another military academy patterned after West Point and Annapolis. Then they could have official space cadets..................Luca

But it consistently gets put towards other “air dominance” projects and those looking into space dominance are routinely ignored. Creating a bona fide Space Corps and placing the (currently named) Secretary of Space on the Presidents cabinet and a director on the Joint Chiefs, is an attempt to create more visibility and, thereby, more accountability... Personally, I would re-enlist if it was available to my age bracket... maybe we will now see a re-emergence or the Star Wars Project.

I was part of Space Command when in the waning years of my Air Force Service. My oldest daughter graduated from the AF Academy last year and is now serving in a missile silo in North Dakota hopefully moving into Space Force ... we are a Space Force family. Note: my youngest is a cheerleader so she's already trained in being spaced out.

The article said initial troop complements would be assembled from existing resources... and not to age-shame you, but I was not aware the concept went back very far...

Space Command started in 85 until 02 then Trump brought it back this year to be transferred to a Force instead of a Command under the USAF.

Since Luca's a doc, he has to be Leonard Bones McCoy, even though his first choice would be Lt. Uhura.
And SK80 has to be Chekov, since he used the Russians to win the football pool.

Since I won all the football pools and my team won all their games and I do have better connections in space with the Russians shouldn't I just be named General of this Star Fleet?

I don’t want to start a new thread, so I’ll leave this here since it does relate to space exploration...
this is being worked on right now... it is hypothesized such a propulsion system could carry earth travelers to Saturn in just 2 years.

So if you were new to that branch of the military, would you be space cadet?
