This is the exact opposite of how we treat police and first responders in every business I've owned or been involved with.

Was never a big "friend of the police" or anything myself.
But these days are a bit much, even for me !
The human refuse and scum these guys - cops - have to deal with so often, it's easy to understand why they might act a little assholish...who wouldn't ?
They're people too fer cryin' out loud.
I think all of us need to remember, or need to be reminded of the fact that without "law & order" people out there, things will get very dangerous and nasty quickly.
Like 'em or not, they're doing us ALL a big favor !
Give the cops a cuppu Joe starbuck dip-sh&*s... though I'm unsure why ANYBODY in their right mind would GO to Starbucks ? ?

I believe the "anti" culture movement started back in the 70's when baby murder was legalized.
If the life of an unborn baby can have "no value" how can anything else have any meaning? Nothing has consequences anymore.
My grandchildren are not growing up in the same America that I did. My America had values things were right and things were wrong.
Today's motto is "If It Feels Good Do It As It Can't Be All Bad" how sad that is what our society has evolved to.
Just my thoughts....

I believe the "anti" culture movement started back in the 70's when baby murder was legalized. If the life of an unborn baby can have "no value" how can anything else have any meaning? Nothing has consequences anymore. My grandchildren are not growing up in the same America that I did. My America had values things were right and things were wrong. Today's motto is "If It Feels Good Do It As It Can't Be All Bad" how sad that is what our society has evolved to. Just my thoughts.... Very well stated.., i agree. |

There's that old double standard again. It's OK to refuse to serve a customer who's a cop, but if you refuse to bake a wedding cake for customers who are gay, it's a national scandal.

It is okay to not be "a friend of the police" as long as you still show the respect due to the position. This applies to many people you interact with daily or even political figures like the President. You do not have to like the person, you do not have to be friends with them, but respect the position they hold as long as they are executing their job properly. There are many police officers who I believe are heroic however there are also many police officers who are jerks. Depends on the person. I am not going to demean the profession of being a cop based on the jerks, Donny Osmond would say that is letting one bad apple spoil the whole bunch, girl. All cops & firefighters in NY were hailed as heroes on September 11th, 2001. Firefighters I understand, they were going into the buildings as people were trying to flee. What is ignored in that hero commendation is the video footage of cops running away from the falling buildings as fast as they could. Human nature, I understand it and don't blame them, I would have run too. However, you don't get to flee and then turn around & be called a hero. |

I also think it started in the 70's, but believe it began with the abolition of corporal punishment in schools. The fear of being sent to the principal's office for a brief meeting with the "board" of education served as an effective, and relatively painless measure of consequence for kids who wouldn't tow the line. A couple generations later, and we've got a whole lot of people who now require society to mete out the consequences, and an army of lawyers seeking to add even greater hurdles for those charged with delivering them. |

Double standards & hypocrisies are the only thing liberals have left to fight for. They gave up on diversity - now fighting for the opposite. They gave up on tolerance - now fighting tolerance to promote hate & intolerance. They gave up on freedom - now fighting to promote the immense nanny state that will " guide you through your daily life." .. telling you what to think, how to eat, what to watch, where you can go, what you can do, what you can say... everything... and it's ' for our own good' Was never a big " friend of the police" or anything myself. Be nice to them, they have guns and special rights to kick your ass if they feel like it LOL |

I don't disagree but point out that for most of us "corporal punishment" was not allowed. That was long before the 70's.
