The only guy from that era with a decent NFL career was my old buddy Gerry Moon Mullins, who played 9 years for the Steelers. He was fortunate enough to win 4 Super Bowl rings, and how many guys can make that claim? Other Colonists with notable careers were Reuben Droughns, RB, who played 8 years for 4 teams, ran for 3,602 yards, and won a Super Bowl ring with the Giants. Brian Noble, LB, who started 110 games for the Packers over 9 years. Jerry Shipkey, LB, who was a Colonist in the 1940's before going on to play 6 seasons with some pretty crappy Steelers teams. But he was good enough to make All-Pro twice and play in 3 Pro Bowls. Understood, and understand, also, you didn’t snub the Colonists. I saw Isaac Curtis on your list and just got jealous, that’s all. I did get to see Moon Mullins play at Anaheim. He was that good, but then there were a ton of “that good” Colonists in the Van Hoorbeke era, just very few of them even went on to a stellar college career, never mind a pro career. Guys like Tom Fitzpatrick really blew it after high school because he became an entitled prima dona.
