I think the answer to the opening question is pretty obvious, and has been for at least a decade.
The left... and I’m talking about the ardent, zealous end of those on the left, and it’s various factions have been trying to push their myopic, selfish agenda on the rest of us who, up until recently, have been the frogs slowly boiling to death without realizing it.
I just read that Sesame has introduced a regular, human character that is at least a cross-dresser (but more likely a transgender).

That's the most fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives that I've tried to articulate several times.
Conservative: "You do what you want and I'll do what I want, OK? Just leave me alone."
Liberal: "No, I know better than you about everything, so I'll do what I want and you do what I want too!"

That'd be a great idea if it weren't hogwash.
Conservatives don't want to interfere in anyone's life...unless they are gay and want to be in the military...or they're a woman who wants an abortion...or they wish to smoke weed...or they don't want prayer in their schools...or...you get the idea.
(if you don't believe me just read Dave's post above)
The notion that conservatives want to leave you alone and liberals want to control your life is absurd. The only difference is what they wish to control.
How does your view of conservatism relate to all the cheating and gerrymandering done by conservative republicans? If they don't want to control people why all the deception and dirty tricks?

A group of liberal students and professors from local Christian colleges have been putting on a series of decisions on the changing American Church. Over the last two years they have been pushing for women pastors, women elders and women Catholic Priests. It's sold as an decisions between two opposing viewpoints but the truth is it's two liberal professors and a liberal audience asking softball questions.
The next one in this Friday 2/7/20 in Costa Mesa and the topic is Will the 2020 Election Divide the Church? The event is free but you need to register. www.facebook.com/events/198667381312102/?notif_t=event_aggregate¬if_id=1580745236284316
I have been to two of these events and I can tell you this will a Donald Trump bashing in the first order. Love to see some Trump support in the audience.

Will the 2020 Election Divide the Church?
Yes. On one hand will be the faithful; on the other hand will be the apostates.

Ah yes, the "good guys" against the "bad guys"...what a simplistic worldview.

I am the chairman of our Board of Elders at our evangelical church.
We have been looking at the concept of women in leadership as is our denomination (which leaves such decisions up to the individual, local bodies)...
I am the one who raised the issue for discussion and I am one of several who see no issue with it. In my opinion, the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to Timothy at a time when only men were leaders: He wrote for the time he knew. Further, Timothy was pretty young so already had issues with the older men so that was not the time to be bucking tradition.
At our Annual Meeting of the congregation last weekend, during the Q&A, a female member asked if we would ever consider women for the Elder board. I told her, we already are (but did not have the heart to tell her, she wouldn’t be one we would consider)...
I don’t have the time to listen to the entire video, Tarmac posted, but the one guy on the “panel,” Dr. Pierce, teaches at the seminary that is attached to Biola University, from where I graduated. I know them to be theologically conservative, if that makes any difference.

Tucker talked about that last night. No wonder the country is all screwed up, our values are going down hill.
One metric was how patriotic people are. I can understand the decline with the current administration and their use of the DOJ/FBI to go after political opponents. If I lived in North Korea I wouldn't be very patriotic either.
The concerning metric is people don't want to have kids. The birth rate is less than two, which is not good.

Yes, I know I've said this before: If you study history, you'll find that only a small minority of world powers fall because they are physically conquered by a stronger power. The vast majority fall because they overextend themselves financially or militarily, or because they rot from within. We have the great honor of currently doing both.

Just spent a week in Mexico, Acapulco. (Even though the US has a DO NOT TRAVEL warning). We stayed in a wonderful home, simply amazing place. Yet it was protected by security, the cars and vehicles are all bullet proof glass and reinforced steel doors. Almost everywhere else we went, poverty, chaos, very sad. All I can think is that if people here really think, what purpose will it solve long term to inject our way of life and system with much more of what does not work? There is little hope, little chance to better ones life outside going the government or a cartel. Hella ya!! Lets just bring more of that here.....
