Another one of those things that sticks in my craw...forced diversity.

I have always felt that diversity is the cause of many of our problems. We should all be just "Americans" dump the hyphen.
The concept that that people that do not have a common cultural bond can be better choice than people who do, is just IMO ridiculous.
I am not saying we should all be the same just that we should be respectful of all.

Of course, one can be an American who is black, or Chinese or white, etc, but such qualifiers don’t belong ahead of American. Parenthetically, I also believe no qualifiers belong ahead of one’s faith: one either IS or IS NOT a Christian (or Muslim or Jew, etc)... you might also be gay or regular or whatever but not a “gay Christian”.

I kinda like the 911 show that's been on Fox the past year or so. Not particularly obvious attempts at diversity... pretty much in line with the way it is.
But then this new spin off starts, set in Texas, and made sure to check off ALL the boxes. Sorry guys...2 dudes making out pretty much got me laughing at how much the envelope is getting pushed.
Was half expecting the village people to start prancing around next...in Austin, TX.

If we were to have a national debate about how blacks, women and homosexuals have been harmed or marginalized in this country, it would be important to have blacks, women and homosexuals on the debate panel. That's diversity where it matters.
But if I'm threatened by a potential pandemic that could harm me or my loved ones, I want the best goddamn physicians and epidemiologists on that panel, and I don't care if they're all old white men or all purple Martians with three a-holes. Calling out a lack of diversity in that case is stupid and dangerous.

That was pretty much the sentiment of the people responding on Twitter.

I think a lot depends on how the word diversity is defined. My point is more should be based on merit and accomplishment and less on sexual preference, country of origin, race, religion etc..etc..etc..

Santa Ana is the the least diverse city in the U.S., yet not a peep from the left about it.

This is just one of the wonderful cultures we're importing to America in the name of diversty & tolerance He says; "" He told her family what she did here," she said. "In our culture, what she was doing was not allowed." so he strangled her to death and then tried to burn her body. Ah, diversty . . . is so great ! We need more ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "He doesn't want anyone around her. He didn't want anyone to help her, stay with her, marry her or date her. He was so mad. In our culture, this is called an 'honor killing.'"
Court documents are outlining details surrounding a brutal murder on Spokane's South Hill. Ibtihal Darraji was the ex-wife of the suspect. Detectives believe he strangled her and then set her body on fire. www.khq.com/news/friends-of-victim-fear-spokane-murder-was-honor-killing/article_b8505590-46f7-11ea-b099-534007fdf374.html

I think a lot depends on how the word diversity is defined. My point is more should be based on merit and accomplishment and less on sexual preference, country of origin, race, religion etc..etc..etc.. Not that I recall him advocating this position because of sexual preference, but a guy like Vile could use the interactions with him on this board as proof positive he's being discriminated against, much like some blacks and Hispanics do when using arrest / incarceration stats. His posts end up in the swamp in a far greater frequency than anyone else here. Is it because he's gay? An atheist? A liberal? Or is it the behavior that drives it? I will say this though. I do pay more attention to what he's posting, and find myself less willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm guessing the cops being accused of profiling found themselves in the same boat after enough incidents. So...at this juncture, it would be fair to say I've lost objectivity when dealing with this person, and may very well be now guilty of what people in authority are often accused of... unobjective bias.

In my never-to-be-considered humble opinion, you have been more than fair, even if not objective.
First, the way we were all treated by him elsewhere should not lead him to believe he would even be welcomed here, never mind engaged. Yet he has the temerity to whine when his snarky, off-topic, insults are collected elsewhere instead of being deleted.
Also, he adds nothing, and I do mean nothing at all to any conversation here. He was drafted over to the other board when his own behavior took down his own crappy liberal community, specifically to get rid of me... a fact he steadfastly denies even now, over a decade later... yet moans and whines when people like RSM actually treat him like an adult.
So, also in my opinion, you are wrong for allowing him to remain much like allowing vermin to remain in your garden, but it is your decision to make and I understand the reason you allow it.

Was using him as an example of how authority figures can get to the point of profiling, which I think is the basis for discrimination, which leads to the advocacy of diversity as the solution.

Well, MDDad is real gay and you never move his comments to the swamp, so I would say any bias you have is a result of VP's behavior and not his longing.
