This is a trial balloon, and I hope every poster on this forum participates. I think it might be interesting to poll ourselves at the beginning of every month on one question:
Who do you think will be the Democratic nominee for President?
Answer with just the name, and then provide your rationale if you want. If your answer is "I'm not sure" or "it's too soon to tell", don't bother responding. Everyone has an opinion., and here's mine:
Hillary Clinton
The Democratic party power structure will not allow socialists Bernie Sanders or Liz Warren to become the nominee, because they know the electoral repercussions of that choice. Mayor Pete's sexuality, complete lack of experience and absence of any notable accomplishments will eventually cool people towards him. Now that the impeachment trial is over, there is no longer any need for Joe Biden, who bumbles his way through everything he tries to say, and who inspires less excitement that yesterday's newspaper. I think the nominee will be undecided when the convention begins, and I think the powers will once again turn to The Sun Queen as their pick.

I agree with your assessment on the candidates in the race right now. No way will they have any chance with their far left/socialist platforms. I think most Democrats are over Hillary, and don't think she has the energy to take on Trump who'll steam roll her. How about Michelle being pulled in/talked into it, by Democrats with possibly an all female ticket with Hillary as VP?

I see a “Brokered Convention”, complete disarray, in fighting.., in steps MDDad becuz no man has enough fury and contempt for Trump that once the Democrats hear him out the delegates jump in unison and nominate him as candidate!

BTW, I was underwhelmed by the Governor who gave the Democratic response to the SOTU. Wasn’t that the Governor of Michigan? she didn’t respond to the State of the Union... she talked about how wonderful Michigan is. |

Bernie. The DNC will realize they can't rig their primary without huge repercussions from their base, so they will allow Sanders to claim a rightful primary victory. They are fully aware this will lead to a pummeling from Trump and the right come November, but have decided the only way to get the young folks on board is for them to get their asses kicked and come humbly back to the tent.

Mike Bloomberg and Tulsi Gabbard as VP
Hunter Binden has ended Joe's run.
Mayor Pete will not get black and hispanic votes.
Fear that Sanders and Warren will kill the economy.
Tulsi Gabbard is young, good looking, does very well on Fox News, a veteran and debates well.
Mike Bloomberg was the Mayor of American's biggest city and has his the money to run on.
Now Bloomberg being Jewish and Gabbard being Hindu will be a very hard to sell to American Christians.

If anyone other than Joe Biden, the Democrat Central Committee’s heir apparent, gets the nomination, Hillary’s and George Soros’ plan for her to ease into the Oval Office via the vice presidency will be dashed.
Joe will be one of the last to drop out of the race for this reason.
Yang and Warren are already seeing discord in the ranks (Yang because of his poor showing, Warren because she’s a steaming turd on the Democrat lawn).
Bloomberg is a threat, but is a liar: He said he was not going to campaign for the smaller, early primaries and wait until Super Tuesday, .. but he has been in New Hampshire, campaigning. In the final analysis, he is too short for anyone to vote for him, even at the convention.
I like Tarmac’s thinking about Gabbard and also believe she will drop out of the race soon, which will make her available for someone’s VP choice.
I was surprised that a gay mayor showed so well in Iowa, but that could be an early fluke and his flash could dwindle, now.
I hope Sanders gets the nomination, though. That would pretty much make a national election for president unnecessary.

Bloomberg to me is actually their most likely candidate to win an election. Certainly he is the most qualified, but of course he got into the game a little late plus he carries the obloquy of being white and rich. Can't have that, for God's sake.
Buttigieg is not a particularly strong candidate but he doesn't have the negatives that his competitors have, so I suspect he will get the nomination by default.
Sanders and Warren are simply too far out there even for the Democratic Party. Once they get into the convention where there are more rational thinkers I think they'll both fade.
I think Biden is doomed because of his mediocre performances, perception of cognitive problems, and the fact that I think there is going to be an honest to God what-the-hell-was-he-doing-in-Ukraine investigation in the near future and it will not come out well for him
Gabbard is too middle-of-the-road for the "I'm more woke than you" Democrats and she looks, y'know, white.
I don't believe there is a snowball's chance in hell that Hilary Clinton will get anything other than more opportunities to whine at the convention......................................Luca

Sorry to say, it will be Biden and I hope so. Nothing will be more satisfying than Trump take Biden to the wood shed.

Even now, word is filtering out that he has no respect for law enforcement, and doesn’t actually do the work of a mayor. The city is run down and businesses are leaving. I believe his failure as a mayor will be difficult to overcome. |

If they can stop Bernie (and I'm not sure they can), I see Bloomberg winning this, after Biden withers and falls. Veep would probably be Klobuchar. But then again, they are dumb enough to go with Abrams or one of the AOC squad. Now, if Warren somehow wins it would probably be Spartacus in the VP slot. If Bernie wins, It's Kamala in the VP slot. |

So no one believes for a silly second in my hypothesis that MDDad gets the nomination? I think here we see why the DNC is in a panic and a brokered deal is on the horizon...., Sanders and Warren being snubbed by large worker unions is a death sentence as you see what is mentioned here in Las Vegas. Warren is OUT IMHO, Sanders has a real chance as the most energy in his party is behind his campaign, but on a national election level they see exactly what is playing out here with these far left policies, they just won't fly. To me at this point, It's Bernie in the lead, Mayor Pete fades a bit, his win was good but he is from that area basically and I see no way anyone will truly believe he is qualified, (even though I said that about Obama!). The one guy whom can still win this is the other Mayor from the Apple. He might be the most qualified, he certainly has the most money, and he is actually rising in the polls, where his ceiling is I just can't say. Oh, Old Sleepy Joe, Yup..., a listless puppet from yesteryear. Seriously, his Presidential running mate can not even endorse him. |

Bernie Sanders
He's got the most national appeal, and can mobilize the far left with the AOCs of the country leading the way. He's the antithesis of Trump,and the way the left of off the rails now, he'll get the nod as anything is better than Trump... even if it's socialism.
