She's an empty skirt. I admire the woman because she is honest in her beliefs and is trying to do something about it with impressive enthusiasm. She has courage her putting herself out there when she is clearly intellectually overmatched, but doesn't back down (I guess that's a virtue, in a way)
That said, she is simply a meteor who is flashing across the media sky for her 15 minutes (sort of a mixed metaphor, there) and who will be cast aside once that the vacuity of her comments is reluctantly accepted by her supporters.
Nothing to see here...................Luca

You're a lot more confident than me about her supporters being able to reach that conclusion. After reading a number of the comments of her Twitter followers, I'm not seeing much in the way of reason or objectivity.

By my calculations, she will be old enough to run for president in 2024. Be afraid...be very afraid.

You've got to think by that time she will have polished up her act, and her charisma will outshine her faults.

I doubt that, Bick. You could throw in Elvis, John Paul II, JFK, the Beatles and the Pied Piper and it still wouldn't be enough charisma to convince people she's not an air head....................Luca

I used to think people made somewhat reasonable choices. Also was viewing things thru the lens of "how bad was the opponent for THAT guy / gal to get elected".
The paradigm seems to be changing.
Or... how bad WAS the incumbent for AOC to get elected over a sitting Democrat?

She might the prettiest member of Congress, but as Margaret Thatcher said, "the problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

I was trying to think of a parallel figure to her and I remembered Cindy Sheehan. Do you guys remember her? She was that fllamboyant far left activist who capitalized on her son’s death in Iraq and tried to make the story all about herself. She was a media darling for a year or two because she had all the right symbolic attributes: She was a woman, she had a son who died in the war, she had some sympathy on her side because of her son and she was made into an icon for the antiwar movement(“No blood for oil”, remember?)
And then people started to listen to what she was actually saying and realized what a flake she was. She was disposed of pretty rapidly after that and I suspect something similar will happen to Cortez. She is young, a millennial, a socialist and highly visible. She is likewise clueless and eventually that will be recognized, I believe ............Luca

This Wapo writer seems to slant conservative for the most part, but makes a great point about how she's being treated in the media as compared to the conservative airhead Sarah Palin. Point being, if any criticism of her is deemed as a "typical GOP attack", it will be discounted or dismissed altogether. I haven't read a lot of outrage from her followers over these doosies: If AOC were a Conservative

The only way she got voted in is voter fraud. In Texas, they just found 58,000 illegal votes. I'm betting it was more and it kept Beto close to Cruz.

AOC is in a Blue-as-blue-can-be district, so no voter fraud needed. Where that more likely happened was with some of the O.C. races like Young Kim, who was declared the clear winner on election night and then lost after two weeks of vote harvesting.

Seems like her Justice Democrats is the left's version of the Tea Party. It will be interesting to see if it divides their party the same way the Tea Party did.
