Being we are mostly Californians here and are of the center, center-right and right persuasion I thought no better thread than California an its Republican Party. Its history, it's present and its future.
I will start off with a newsworthy item which falls under its "present", the election of new party chair Jessica Patterson.
Beleaguered California Republicans Vote Jessica Patterson New Party Chair

We all know what happened this past November election cycle here in California and especially in Orange County. In all my life here I have never been represented in Sacramento by a Democrat. My district is now represented by one Harley Rouda, a somewhat centrist Democrat heavily funded to take out an old stalwart in Dana Rohrebacher. And that he did as California moved further left. The changing demographics in Orange County had more to do with it than the real ideology aspect. In California "Old White Men" are the enemy deemed through the mantra of the media. Like AOC in Bronx-Queens, old white guys gotta go, they simply have too much tie to racist American past. Or so they say.
So here we are now with the election in February 2019 with a new leader of the California Republican Party, Jessica Patterson. And how did the GOP look at the future of California? Latino dominate, this choosing a Latina. How did they see the present political landscape, yup anti establishment white guy thus follow the #MeeToo movement and go female. Will or will she not be successful because of her "identity" as a Latina woman?
Strategically I get all this and I believe the party can't go much lower. Patterson beat out Travis Allen a Trump supporter, former 72nd district rep and failed Governor candidate in 2018. Patterson thus was elected as a moderate or center establishment Republican.
What are all of you thinking now about here at home, about what happened in November and what will or can happen in 2020? I heard an interview with Willie Brown yesterday in which he claims to govern well Newsome actually needs some Republicans back in Sacramento. His analogy is a super majority actually becomes difficult for even a Governor to control. Basically they don't need him. Interesting talk from the Ex-Governor.
Being of Libertarian mind, my belief in small government and especially "LOCAL" government works best for it's constituents. With tax I will be very focused on Harley Rouda and how he handles his first year in Congress. My guess he will go lock, stock with Nancy Pelosi. Should I see that play out I will be a HUGE outspoken voter during his re-election campaign.
Whom will Jessica Patterson discover as the face and future candidate(s) for the California GOP!
