God, I hate this avalanche of neologisms. I've always hated how the noun "disrespect" became a verb so that now victims are "disrespected" or - God help us - "dissed." WTF? Then came "homophobic", a Latin bastardization. "Phobic" is a Latin root meaning hatred/loathing/dislike. The prefix "homo" means "man", as in mankind, a generic descriptor. I don't know who the hell it was that decided homophobic meant loathing of homosexuals. What it should mean is loathing of mankind. I suppose in slang terms it could be taken to mean that one hates "homos" (an obsolete slang for homosexuals), but I doubt that's how it was intended to be interpreted, otherwise they could just as easily have coined the term "fagphobic". And now apparently we have "transphobic" (thank you, Dave, hadn't heard that one before), "trans" meaning "across" or "beyond." It doesn't mean "transexual". So, screw these pseudo-intellectuals who are trying to come across as woke Renaissance Latin scholars (I had to take 2 years of Latin in high school. They told us "you have to know Latin if you want to get into medical school". Yeah?.....well, my ass, Father O'Rourke. You need to know 2 or 3 prefixes and you can fake the rest, but what the hell did I know? But I digress.......) I'm going to make my own neologisms from now on. We're not "trans-phobics", Dave. We're "Cisophiles". Look at it from the positive perspective..........................Luca I agree 200%. The noun-to-verb transition that drives me nuts is "efforting", as in "we are efforting to get that done." Whatever happened to just "trying"? Or the trend among mostly African-Americans to not use verbs at all, as in "I good", or "Man, she ugly." And of course the reigning king of the hill is the ubiquitous misuse of pronouns, as when people refer to "She and I's car." WTF is that?

Or send an email to the guy? You had to “ inbox” him? Did he “reply” you? Perhaps it’s just me. Maybe I was grammared too much as a kid.............Luca

I really hated when I was asked to "Xerox" a document when it would have been so much clearer to have asked me to "go to the Xerox machine and photocopy the document". I think we should blame Joe Wilson for starting the phenomenon that were currently forced to deal with. "Google it"...puh-lease.

I agree, Bick. I think we should Xerox your last post and effort to inbox everyone with it to avoid disrespecting them.

I’m not overly concerned about currentizing our vocabulary. The trick for me is to (try to) keep up with my teenagers meaning when they speak. A few months ago, my 16 year old daughter tried to take me under her wing to bring my vocabulary into her GenZ world. It didn’t take long for her to run screaming in frustration...
My issue is with those who misuse everyday words: Use “may” instead of “might” ... or “seen” for the past tense of “see.”
One of my favorites, though, is the double negative, “irregardless”

What happens in Canada might not stay in Canada--if the Democrats had their way. This is totalitarianism, pure and simple. The only point I would quibble with here is that the man's crime of "misgendering" is not the consequence of some sort of uniquely "Christian" view. Posited this way, it will be easier to dismiss his action as irrational, thus providing another excuse for radical secularists to pile on Christians as hateful troglodytes.
Calling a male a male is nothing more than a matter of truth and reality.
Biology is not bigotry.

When the British army surrendered to American and French forces at Yorktown in 1781, effectively ending the American Revolution and granting America its independence, it's reported that the British band played "The World Turned Upside Down". I think it's fitting that the same tune should be played today. Up is down, left is right, and right is wrong when you can get fined for calling a man a man.

I think they are burying the lede. Isn't the larger issue the governments ability to levy large fines for people just using words, words that don't cause a public danger?
I believe a man who does surgery to himself to appear to be a woman is still male, but lets set that aside for a moment. Whether I choose to call that person "he", "she", "Sasquatch" or "Nancy Pelosi" is no business of the government. It could be considered rude to do so, but there is nothing in the Constitution demanding that people be nice & civil. That falls under the norms of etiquette of society, not the law. Those in favor of having the government having the power to fine those who don't follow the pronoun dance should beware, for what if they sneeringly refer to a straight woman as "a breeder" and it turns out that she has some medical issue that prevents her from having kids. Drag them to court & $100K for pain & suffering? When we have to step back to our childhood and remind people that "Sticks & stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me", we are going backwards.
20 years ago, I was in a mixed bowling league (2 men, 2 women) and we won first place. The trophies that were handed out all had women bowlers on top of them. I joked that my trophy had Rupaul, who knew I had a lawsuit available for misgendering me.

A person with one X and one Y chromosome is a man. The fact that his delusional mind causes him to mutilate his body in an effort to convince himself and others that he is something else is irrelevant. The classic example is Bruce Jenner. Hormone therapy, makeup and women's clothes don't compensate for the fact that he hasn't been able to part with his penis. So what is he, if not a messed up dude?

Speaking of this whack, there were reports a few months back he was considering switching back. Which, I assume (if accurate) is a reason he can’t quite seem to hack off his Johnson...

I don't have the exact percentages, but it is more common than not for those who go through the transgender process to at some point want to reverse it. That supports MDDad, Ben Shapiro & others statement that it is a mental condition.
Believe it or not, I saw this in person back in 1979. I was 16, working at McDonalds and had to take a fellow employee to Kaiser Permanante in Anaheim Hills because he burnt his hand on the fry vat. It was a Sunday night, about 9 pm, and I was the only one sitting in the emergency ward waiting room (boy, have times changed). This hulking figure in a robe walked in & began a discussion with the nurse at the desk. The gist of the conversation was that he had begun the process of transgendering to a woman & now changed his mind and wanted to reverse it. The nurse was flabbergasted and I must have looked like a deer in headlights.

The most perplexing part of that story is why the dude came to the emergency room.

What happens in Canada might not stay in Canada--if the Democrats had their way. This is totalitarianism, pure and simple. If this comes to the US, and I think it has in California, I don't see how it survives in the US Supreme Court. Seems to me to be an open and shut case of violating a person's 1st Amendment right of free speech.

I’m a little tired. If I declared myself a woman and then said I identified as being pregnant - say second trimester - y’think I might qualify for pregnancy leave?...........Luca
