I learned a new word today...cisgender. Someone had to invent a gender identity term for "normal"?

It’s a chemical term derived from Latin. “Trans’ means when you have a group of atoms on the opposite side of a molecule and “cis” is when they are on the same side. It never occurred to me that it would be used in this fashion. It’s funny how people will use complicated terms to make themselves sound more sophisticated and try to give their perspective some legitimacy even when it’s foolish. That’s how sociologists make a living.
Remember the old joke “Never use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice”?

Why are Democrats trying to destroy women's sports? Because their Social Justice Warrior causes sometimes conflict, and they lack the intellect to resolve them?

If "cis" means "on the same side", shouldn't "cisgender" be a synonym for "homosexual"?

Thanks to the article Credo posted, I learned that there's a term for choosing to be what you already are. I guess the "cis" part means in agreement with fact? Maybe a homosexual would be a cissexual?

That sounds like more leftist mumbo-jumbo. If I have blue eyes, I can't choose to have blue eyes...or at least my choice is irrelevant. And if I have X and Y chromosomes, my choosing to be a man is just as irrelevant. You can choose your behavior, but you can't choose what you are.

An additional "I am" was added before the comma in the English translation of Cogito Ergo Sum.
You didn't get the memo?

Cogito Sum, Ergo Sum? That explains it.

If "cis" means "on the same side", shouldn't "cisgender" be a synonym for "homosexual"? It's hard to know for sure, but maybe its reference to Lou Reed's " Take a Walk on the Wild Side." If you're "trans" you're crossing over the line to "take a walk on the wild side" (so to speak), but if you're "cis" you stay in your lane (gender-wise) and don't cross the line. Maybe. I don't think chemists ever intended for their Latin roots to be applied to gender confusion, but perhaps it was a lack of imagination on their part. I used to tell jokes in my chemistry class, but I never got a reaction. I guess they were pretty boron 'cuz all the best jokes argon. You can never trust atoms anyway, they make up everything........................Luca .

I can't figure out if this is an example of getting your panties in a wad, or your jockstrap getting stuck in your crack.

A few months ago I received a flyer for an upcoming conference regarding "Medical Issues in Transgender and Gender Fluid Patients."
I'd never heard the term "gender fluid" before. Was that something you drink from a gender blender? I told them I couldn't make it because I was so incensed that they referred to me as Luca when in fact that morning I was Lucetta.

Just shocking that college students who think like this could find themselves $100-200k in student loan debt.

A few months ago I received a flyer for an upcoming conference regarding "Medical Issues in Transgender and Gender Fluid Patients." Good grief...you have a conference about those issues? How about a simple referral to the local asylum or whatever the hell today's PC term is? Oh and I've got a cure for whatever you want to call that illness as well. Spend 30 days under "observation" at that same mental hospital with the other patients. See if that helps them decide. Geez...I'm a Neanderthal
