Effective immediately and continuing until March 31 the following will be in effect in Orange County. 1. All public and private gatherings of any number of people, including at places of work, occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited.
This prohibition applies to all professional, social, and community gatherings, regardless of their sponsor, that are not engaged in ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES. This is followed by 5 pages of big Government defining what in their opinion is essential. cms.ocgov.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=114362

How many people will be laid off? How many people live pay check to pay check? How many businesses will have to close? I understand wanting to do the right thing, but I feel this is going too far?
What do all of you think?

Of course the first "Essential Activity" listed is working for government agencies. There are 6 households on my street and not one of us works in an industry which is listed as a "Essential Activity." I feel like I'm living in another dimension where "martial law" is a possibility.

The biggest laugh is that media outlets are considered "essential activities".

Not to mention laundromats and dry cleaners. Is this a joke?

If I read this correctly, since my business is conducted in homes (i.e., I go to the customer, they don't come to me), my business is exempt. If I wanted a loophole, I could describe my business as providing media communications receptions for homes, an alternate way of saying they bought a TV & surround sound system from me.
It is real easy for those in do-nothing government positions to tell everyone else there is going to be some tough times coming up when they are not going to see a single penny less than what they would normally be making. Man do I despise government employees.

Man do I despise government employees. I couldn't agree more, my Servite bro. They sit in their sanctimonious towers and pass restrictive measure after restrictive measure, always ensuring that they don't apply to them or affect them.

It is already destroying the state of Illinois. Although we are limited to gatherings under 10...
Fast food and mom-and-pop local businesses are being hardest hit, but no one is safe.
Today, our governor activated the Illinois National Guard to “assist with the COVID-19 response” (whatever that means).

Again I ask whom has such power....? Backed by what.... ? In Illinois, I, had to look it up, but once a national emergency is called, our Governor gets all his new, authoritarian powers from The Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act
i don’t know from where your Governor gets his. Personally, I believe him to just be a whack.

We have local powers or so claimed powers... our Governor actually CALLED for these measures not ORDERED... then a bunch of city and county mayors or health agencies all wrote laws from who knows where ?

The latest from the County. "poorly worded" ha. They were met with massive pushback from their citizens.
“People can go to work in Orange County and businesses are encouraged to keep operating, county officials said late Tuesday, while acknowledging a health order they issued earlier in the day was poorly worded and caused widespread confusion. County officials said the intent was for businesses to remain open while practicing social distancing guidelines from the state that ask people to stay six feet from each other to slow the spread of coronavirus. Officials plan to change Tuesday’s order on Wednesday to reflect that, while still requiring closure of bars and restaurants, except for delivery or pick-up service”
