OK, here's where I ruffle a bunch of feathers and get called a "liberal" again.
My four favorites are probably: Dennis Prager -- If there's a prototype for what I call a compassionate conservative, he's probably it. Trey Gowdy -- Love the guy. Very bright dude who hopefully still has a political future sometime, and his prosecutor mentality is amazing to watch. Larry Elder -- Very intelligent common sense black conservative, although it's hard to find him anymore. Any leads? Ben Shapiro -- Another brilliant guy, but he talks so fast that his mouth sometimes outruns his brain, and that's never a good thing.
Near the bottom: Bill O'Reilly -- His arrogant prickiness overshadows everything else. If his volume of knowledge was half as big as his ego, he'd be much better. But I still read the Martin Dugard KIlling books that have O'Reilly on the cover as the author. Sean Hannity -- Absolutely dislike the guy. When a commentator crosses the line to becoming an extremist conspiracy nutjob, I don't bother anymore. James Woods -- I don't know how he's on some lists. He's not really a political commentator. He's a bitter old actor who hasn't had a gig in seven years except as a cartoon character in Family Guy, and tries to make funny comments on social media. Actually a little pathetic.

Easily, Victor Davis Hanson. I first heard about him as an author. He's a classicist specializing in ancient Greece and wrote a few excellent books that I have read about the Pellopenesian wars.
He is primarily now a classicist and military historian who has now branched into political commentary, and one of the brightest guys I have ever listened to. Superb spontaneous speaker, excellent vocabulary and a charismatic voice.
Trey Gowdy would be second. His sense of humor and ability to see and define the point under discussion are matchless........................Luca

Greg Gutfeld is hilarious! Did you know he is an atheist? I believe he is agnostic, not an atheist. According to Wikipedia, I guess we're both right. It states, "Gutfeld was raised Roman Catholic and once was an altar boy. He describes himself as an 'agnostic atheist'".

I liked Dennis Prager more when he was a radio broadcaster in Los Angeles. My wife is addicted to his Prager University Facebook posts, but although he is a very insightful he is becoming a one note band. He's developed a pretty staunch, unremitting right wing perspective on everything (just like Rush Limbaugh), and no ideology has a monopoly on what's correct. You're right about Ben Shapiro. Again an awfully bright guy but he talks faster than I can think. I find myself considering his previous paragraph when he's off to the races. I don't care much for O'Reilly or Hannity, either. Woods is a funny guy but not really a commentator. And what the hell is an "agnostic atheist"? That's a contradiction in terms......................Luca

I liked Dennis Prager more when he was a radio broadcaster in Los Angeles. I agree, and all my memories of him are from that time. When he described why, if God doesn't exist, then the notions of good and evil, right and wrong, have no foundation other than arbitrary societal norms was one of the best ten minutes I ever heard on the radio. And I think of Sean Hannity the same way I think of Bill Maher. He's an entertainer who makes millions of dollars telling his followers what they want to hear.

What does it say that only 1 woman made any of the lists (Kennedy)?
While not in my top 3, I do also like some of the women on The Five, specifically Daugen McDowell, Emily Compagno and Dana Perino.

I see the bold and underlined, but not sure what I'm missing. Bad grammar? Misspelled word? IDK??? Sorry - I'm still new to the forum and still trying to figure things out.

Oh man, enjoyed your takes on some of the obvious faves, even liberal MDDad's....! Hmmm, well I could go many a direction... "Commentator"... can we define that term! I'll go wide, to include anyone whom has an outlet to make political comment.... I'm gonna throw one out non here have mentioned, Newt Gingrich. Simply the smartest, experienced, been in the fox hole, Constitutionalist I have ever listened to. They guy can run circles around anyone. I've been a Larry Elder guy for a longtime, the Sage of South Central. I use to frequent his forums as well as went to some tapings of his short lived TV Show.... I still have my Larry Elder Show coffee mug. I thought BOR was the King of talk, again MDDad hates pompous people... I see that clear with his Trump takes as well as his take here regarding Bill. Trey Gowdy is my kinda guy, one Repubs need more of..., I think Bonging is trying to get there but he doesn't have the "in office" experience Gowdy has racked up. And yes pure entertainment and political humor its Greg G. Dudes in infectious and witty. I am not anti Hannity as some may be, but I do not listen to him much as its just too much "cheerleading"...... I agree with most everything he says but I don't need that. Confirming my beliefs is less of an interest to me now. I would watch Tucker or Laura now over Sean.
