With the increasing number of sheriffs and police refusing to enforce the quarantine decrees, it’s an Alice in Wonderland situation where it’s now law enforcement that’s more focused on civil rights than the politicians and ACLU activist types. Soon we’ll see Nancy Pelosi fretting over deficit spending..............Luca Law enforcement has a better understanding of the laws and the rights of citizens as opposed to the clowns wearing political suits and costumes....

I've told my wife that the only way I would agree to wear a mask is if everything is opened up back to normal. EVERYTHING. No restrictions on retail, schools, large gatherings, etc. Everything.
If masks really do work, then there should be no increased danger. What I think would happen is that after a short period of time people would realize the masks aren't even necessary, and stop wearing them altogether.
But the economic lockdowns are clearly not about public health; they're about control.

I would say that that is true to an extent, Credo. It is about control but I don't think it's out of a malicious desire to exert control or power. The people who are coming up with some of these more off the wall decrees believe that it's their duty to protect and "nurture" the masses against their own foolishness. They're the "It takes a village" adherents, so to speak. People like you and me have a different perspective. We want to use common sense, assess our own risks and decide how to handle ourselves.
Sometimes I think this board is succumbing too much to the black helicopter and conspiratorial interpretation of events. I don't believe that most of the neo-authoritarians are motivated out of bad intent, but you're right that "The road to hell is paved with good intentions.".............Luca

I agree with you for the most part. but from such agreement, I do except people like your and my governors. Their behavior indicates to me they are more interested in asserting their authori-tay than protecting people’s health. our Governor has even gone to federal court seeking a supervisory judgement prohibiting anyone from suing him ... (happy even our liberal court denied his plea).

Geez. If you could get an injunction against anybody suing you I'd be sprinting to a courtroom right now.
Maybe I should lower my sights. I'd be happy just to get an injunction against anybody giving me a kill-stare just for not wearing a mask.

I'd be happy just to get an injunction against anybody giving me a kill-stare just for not wearing a mask. Working in Automobile Claims in So Cal for as long as I did, I became a believer in the saying “anyone can sue anyone else for anything. The trick is prevailing.” with that said, let me know how your kill-stare lawsuit goes. If you prevail, it might be something I’ll try here. in other news: California Sheriff: “We’re not enforcing lockdown. We’re too busy re-arresting criminals.”

And the worst kind of tyranny is the kind that is exercised "for our own good," for it enables the tyrants to sleep better at night.

Both of these guys are 100% on the money here. And Trump's refusal to wear a mask is only driving up the media's TDS.
The leader of the nation is not afraid. They press hates him for it, but that's the message we need to see and hear every single day.

Meanwhile, not a single government employee has been laid off and all are receiving full paychecks. Apparently working for the government makes you immune to catching or passing on Covid19. Well that is about to change....... Actually, Newsom is using this politically and signalling to other Democratic governors to do the same. At the same time he announced the intention of cutting all government wages 5%, he said that all it would take is a stroke of a pen by Trump (signing Pelosi's latest bill) to cover these cutbacks. So Newsom makes decisions that kill the state budget and wants the government employees to blame Trump when their pay gets cut. He & his aunt are political animals and it is sickening how in a time of a pandemic and crushing economic downturn, they just play their game like it is an average Tuesday.

It will come as no surprise, then, to learn our governor Pritzker is doing many of the same things Newsom is doing, either just ahead or immediately after him.

To save all the scrolling around through the various threads, I’ll give you some brief background here: several lawsuits have been filed against our governor claiming he doesn’t have the authority to extend his emergency declaration and his current executive orders violate the rights of Illinois citizens guaranteed at least by the Illinois Constitution. the first such lawsuit was filed by State Representative, Darren Bailey in southeast Illinois in a circuit court. over the weekend, the governors lawyers filed a motion to move the hearing out of the court in which it was filed and into a court in our state capital. The judge hearing their motion accuses them of judge shopping and denies the motion. they then tried to postpone the hearing 14 days, but the judge denied that one, too, telling them they’ve already had almost a month... so he gave them until Friday... at 1:00 PM. so we’re up to date on that one, and for those who enjoy reading court transcripts, Fourth Judicial District, Clay County, Darren Bailey, Plaintiff versus Governor Pritzker, Defendant
