I’m humbled you even noticed. Thank you... That is me in my 20’s, created from a photo by an online interface I cannot find now. You’re right about the hair. As a child of the flower power generation, my first job was at McDonalds, I went from there to a Christian college, to Temp work at Disneyland, and then into the Navy... in the late 60’s and 70’s, none of those places allowed long hair that was in style, so when I got out of the Navy, I decided it needed to be long... except my hair is naturally curly, so my locks piled up around my face rather than flowed down my back... This is a longshot, but is your name reaIly David? Your description and timeline matches someone I knew back then. Yes, my name is David, my middle initial is “S” and my last name initial is “F” (I’m not very clever anymore at coming up with screen names, and I have recently been in more than one community where we used real names. It was an interesting thought @bick with the idea we had the only conservative thinker in SF on our board!

Speaking of conservatives and San Francisco, did anyone else see the front page of the L.A. Times yesterday. A feature article about the gay leather culture in 'Frisco somehow seemed newsworthy enough to the Times that it deserved about a quarter of the front page and most of an inside page to give us all the sordid details. Maybe I'm getting old, but the last thing I need with my morning coffee is a bunch of photos of bare-chested dudes in a gay bar with leather shorts, leather baseball caps and leather straps across their torsos. I skipped the rest of my breakfast, and I will cancel my subscription when it expires in two weeks.

Whew! Because we all thought you might be Dave from San Francisco! Nope, born and raised in Ram’aheim, grad’iated Anaheim HS, 4 years in the Navy, BA In Mass Media Communications from Biola College (now “university”), MBA from University of St. Francis (Joliet, IL)... worked Automobile Claims in Los Angeles for 10 years before my employer moved me to their HQ in Illinois to facilitate Leadership to management level people. spent the last several years producing training videos for that employer... I’ve only been “through” San Francisco on my way somewhere else... never lived or worked there.

Thanks Dave. The guy I knew was named Larry, worked at Disneyland part time in the late 60s. He had joined the Navy, and after his last shift at the Magic Kingdom, needed to get to San Diego. He was afraid the buses wouldn't get him there in time, so, since I didn't have anything better to do, I drove him to the base in the wee hours of the morning. Good kid. Obviously it was a long shot that you were he, (not saying you weren't a good kid also). but I thought I'd check.

Wow,Perfesser, it is eerily similar to my journey.
After my first year in college, it was clear I would waste my parents money by continuing, so I had a brief dalliance with community college, but then worked the Summer of ‘72 at the Tragic Kingdom... before enlisting in the Navy...
Although I was not in a hurry to get to San Diego. I swore in at AFEES in Los Angeles, then hopped on the Navy bus for the trip south.

Okay, the growth is a bit hidden in the photo, it doesn't stand out like in the drawing. Maybe the drawing was done by someone wearing glasses from "They Live", able to see what was hidden in plain sight.
"They Live" trivia - the line "I have come here to chew bubblegum & kick ass and I'm all out of bubblegum" was not part of the script, it was ad-libbed by Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Our local newspaper leans libertarian and I sent them packing years ago. There is noting delivered to my porch that I can’t find online quicker and easier... and Online, I can even get Angels highlights instead of just box scores.

The L.A. Times was conservative.....in the 1960's.
Hey, all respect to David's photo: love the 1970's picture.

Continuing on the user image thread, lets now turn our attention to Bick. He has a new avatar, this time an actual picture instead of a cartoon. It looks nice, but I can't tell if it is a picture of Bick currently or an old photo of Jack Nicholson from "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". Please enlighten us.
Speaking of "One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest", who can tell me (no googling) the actor who played Martini, the delusional patient who kept putting hotels on Reading Railroad and calling them "Train Depots"?
