If Elon Musk can spend $44 billion to buy Twitter, why can't he scrounge up another hundred bucks to buy OCConnect? Is Wabash still ruining that site?

On the non-sports side, only Wabash and JQP are still posting regularly, accounting for probably 90% of that side's traffic.

It is pretty hysterical watching and listening to the reactions of some of the anointed. There is the weeping and gnashing of teeth regarding the anticipated Musk perpetuated "misinformation", "hate speech", "misogyny", "racism", etc (like we're not already getting all that shoved down our throats already). The guy hasn't even said exactly what he wants to do and hasn't had his first day in the office yet. But, y'know, why wait for mere evidence when you already have an opinion?
I've spent a lot of time around surgeons so I'm pretty accustomed to arrogance, but the amount that I see with these talking drones still never ceases to amaze me. It's like they're incapable of recognizing more than one perspective on any issue in question. Their whole world seems to be black-and-white: you either share their righteous and correct opinion or you're an amoral untermenschen. ........If God is a progressive, I'm screwed.

There are two exclamations they have made since the Musk announcement that simply amaze me. The first is that they believe no one super-wealthy man should have so much control over what people can see, hear or read. They ignore completely that Musk's predecessor, as well as the heads of Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, Google and Amazon have been doing exactly that for over a decade. The second is they fear this could mean the end of our democracy because Twitter now has the power to censor opposing points of view, again utterly ignoring that their leftist friends have been doing that forever.
It was also revealed this week that 99.2% of Twitter employees consider themselves liberals and have donated money to Democrat candidates for office. The smartest thing Musk could do is herd them all together in a football stadium and can them on the spot.

They ignore completely that Musk's predecessor, as well as the heads of Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, Google and Amazon have been doing exactly that for over a decade. Precisely. On my way in this morning I was listening to a YouTube discussion on the topic featuring a Scott Galloway, who is a professor of marketing at the Stern school of business at NYU (which made me happy that my youngest son who got accepted to the Stern school turned it down several years ago). He was asked if it was a disconcerting trend that so many billionaires were starting to get control over the "narratives" (I hate that word and they used it over and over) on current topics in the media. He was honest enough to point out that this is nothing new since Jeff Bezos owns the Washington post, Mark Zuckerberg pretty much controls Facebook, Larry Page and Sergey Brin I imagine can pretty much influence Google however they want. But somehow Musk is radically different, Because: 1). Bezos is constrained by the Wash Post board of directors and editors, 2). Zuckerberg is controlled by Facebook's existing algorithms. Wait, I was thinking. Bezos owns the Post and he can get whatever board of directors and editors he wants. Zuckerberg can change whatever algorithms he would like at Facebook, and so on. The guy applied an obvious double standard on why Musk is dangerous and wouldn't be constrained by the same issues as the others. And nobody said anything. WTF? Am I the only guy who's thinking around here?..............................Luca

I think their alarmist rhetoric over this acquisition stems from one of two reasons. The first is that they are extremely unintelligent and don't recognize that what they fear is exactly what their side has done for many years. The second is more sinister, that they know their side has done the same things, and they are terrified of conservatives having the ability to do the same, even though Musk has said repeatedly that he will do exactly the opposite by opening Twitter up to all points of view. Maybe that's the real thing they fear and want to quash at any cost -- not that they will be silenced, but that the right will again be heard.
As for your wondering whether you're the only guy thinking around here: If you had asked that question on OCConnect, it would have been rhetorical.

@ MDDad, the only reason to herd them into a football stadium is if Elon builds a rocket ship pad at the 50 yard line and permanently launches them into space where we can no longer ver have to here their insidious cries again...

I think the coup de grace is the fact the Twitterazis abhor the notion that hate speech will return, but are perfectly fine with porn on that platform.
If you believe some of the comments from conservatives about the massive # of followers they've gained in the past week, this shadow banning algorithm is staggering.

Liberal minds are exploding for two reasons, the won a rigged election through the Covid narrative and the censoring of truths, conservative voice on most social media platforms as well as most media outlets. Now we have the end of the "pandemic", the end of their control on the social media town square and look at the collapse of outlets like CCN its quite simple to see why liberal brain matter has hit the wall.
