He had told them a month or so ago that they needed to enact some reforms or he might do so. They did not, so he did. I'm not sure whether this was the right thing to do, but I'm glad to see an American leader who identifies an international problem, insists on changes and then follows through on his threat. It gives him credibility for future negotiation. Because the mission of WHO - when correctly executed - is beneficial to all humanity, this is something that feel good, public opinion obsessed politicians would never have considered. But maybe it had to be done, and it did take courage. I cannot understand Chinese behavior. Why would they have tried to silence their own physicians who identified a new outbreak? Why would they release incorrect and counterintuitive information that the virus was not transmissible human to human? How the hell else would the thing have spread? And why are they not - as I understand it - cooperating fully and sharing all their own experience with other countries? What is to be gained from such secretive behavior?...........................Luca

Same reason the Soviets lied about Chernobyl. Communism and socialism are built on a foundation of lies--about human nature, society, economics, and just about everything else. Lying is part and parcel of the DNA of socialism--just look at AOC or any other avowed socialist. |

Even assuming that the US is in "chaos", how does that make their being deceptive and insular of any benefit to them? You know, if we consider W. H. O. to be our objective, then shouldn't we be referring to them as W.H.O.M.? These are the kind of grammatical conundrums that keep me awake at night......................Luca |

This is not quite the insight I was looking for.
The reasoning seems to be:
Major premise: All socialists are liars.
Minor premise: The Chinese government is socialist.
Conclusion: Therefore the Chinese government lies
Certainly, this analysis manifests the virtue of simplicity, but it doesn't answer anything. If you don't mind my saying, it's a bit Wabashian. If I automatically accepted the major premise then I wouldn't have needed to ask the question to begin with. The question was "what do they gain from their behavior?" There's not much point in lying if there is no benefit for you in it...........................Luca

Now, I'm not quite sure. Ineptitude perhaps? Ego? I hope Mr. Trump decides to fund other similar, more local organizations loyal to the World. |

Perhaps their thinking is as simple as wanting world domination and trying to weaken the US in any way possible is seen as a positive move to that end.

I don’t doubt that they are doing their best to weaken the position of the US, but silencing their own physicians about an epidemic in their own country doesn’t achieve that end.

While I agree that action doesn't achieve that end, socialists also do not allow the government to ever appear wrong. Any dissension, any talk of the government messing up ends up in the death or exile of the person making the accusation. So a government employee goofs up and accidentally leaks the virus from a lab. As doctors and others try to point out what is happening, they are silenced. The Chinese government, in the midst of a crisis, decides to not let this go to waste, so they allow their citizens to fly out to other nations all over the globe to inflict the virus & economic pain upon them. Don't forget that China is the leading manufacturer of most drugs & medical supplies that would be needed to treat the virus. These are the types of actions socialists do, in the same way a scorpion would sting a frog that is carrying it across the river, causing both of them to die. |

This is why they needed Trump gone. This one world government needs US money to run until they drop the hammer. They killed over 5 million people to get Trump out of office and they only have 3 more years to finish the reset.
1. Destroy the world economy.
2. Keep people afraid and in their homes.
3. Take away the peoples power to fight back.
4. Control the narrative in news, schools and art.
5. Keep the people needy for things the government controls. Food, power, travel, school, health care, banking and shelter.
They can not hold a 2022 US election. Something horrible is going to happen to stop it.
