If the average global temperature was x degrees twenty years ago and is x + 1 degrees today, that's real, not religion. Where people disagree is over (a) what is the significance of a 1 degree rise, and (b) how much of that rise is caused by man and can theoretically be reversed.

man is not causing global warming. That is an ignorant statement, and it's evidence that YOU are the one with religious beliefs when it comes to global climate change. Man's economic activity absolutely contributes to it. The question is whether or not that contribution is major or insignificant.

People here seem to be talking past each other. Mrright, you say you are a libertarian, and, of the rest of us, 13 of the 14 top contributors on this forum are conservatives. So why do your posts seem to be tilting at liberal windmills. Could it be that we are basically on the same side, and our disputes are just a matter of degrees?

Man's economic activity absolutely contributes to it. The question is whether or not that contribution is major or insignificant. I'm not so much concerned with the question of whether and how much humans are contributing to so-called "climate change" (notice that the former bogey-man of "global warming" has been quietly buried....). There's no way to prove or disprove the man-made climate change assertion scientifically, since there cannot possibly be a controlled experiment that can be observed. Fluctuating conditions with the Sun and the other planets in our solar system are probably a bigger factor than human activity. The more important question is whether the trillions in taxpayer funds and the massive economic dislocation being proposed by advocates of the Green New Deal--and the like--provide a benefit that outweighs the cost. I suspect the answer is no. What's more likely is that the shifting goalposts of the green activists are little more than a gigantic money and power grab, like almost all big government boondoggles. The burden of proof is on the Greens to prove their case---and thus far they've come up pretty empty. And look at what they do, not what they say. When people like the Obamas spend $15M on an beachfront estate in the Hamptons, this tells me they have no actual concern about rising ocean levels. It's like Gavin Newsom and his lobbying buddies congregating maskless at the French Laundry last year: their actions tell you they don't even believe their own b.s.

Some things I'm missing in this CNN article, A crucial ocean circulation is showing signs of instability
My own bias is the first thing I noticed: Article is from CNN, so that always makes me more suspicious that they are trying to persuade me rather than just report the news. so, whether or not I am scrutinizing this article more heavily, I do notice: - The author does not say HOW man is primarily responsible for it...only THAT he is;
- The article re-introduces the scare about melting polar ice caps and sea levels rising 1"
- Article first states "the entire planet's weather systems is showing signs of instability due to human-made climate change," but further in, also states "they did not know whether it had actually been destabilized or undergoing natural changes."
- Article DOES state "...found global warming was driving the destabilization," but nothing about man having caused it.
- This study is quite coincidental, coming as it does immediately preceding "...a major report by the UN's International Panel on Climate Change on Monday."

and, speaking of coincidental manipulation, have you seen this commercial, yet?
Using children, condescending to adults to manipulate us into buying into their agenda. STILL not seeing evidence man is primarily responsible for climate change.
that one kid in the commercial says it well: "I'm only 6, you figure it out." Yes, you're only children, while you learn critical thinking, go play and let sentient minds figure out what's real and what is hysteria.

Does that also apply to people like trump? I was wondering why he spent no money on his "Stop The Steal" audits in GA and AZ all the while he was begging you for money to fund the thing. What does that tell you?

HE CAN'T spend his own money on it, you stupid shit. The retarded deranged haters were AREADY calling it a GOP travesty (including our resident moron) and Trump finding it would defeat whatever purpose he had for supporting it.
Geez, use your head for something other than a perch for your cat.
