Although they are technically opposites, the terms communism and fascism have become almost interchangeable in today's vernacular. They both imply totalitarian governmental control, the elimination of honest journalism, and the reduction of personal freedoms and decision-making to almost zero.

I see communism as a communal type set up - Russia. The common contemporary meaning, like MDDad said, for fascism is a corporate rule. Like an oligarchy that controls the government. Both can have elections, but they are mostly rigged. IMO, we are moving to a fascist state under Biden. Maybe we have been there for a long time, but it is really apparent now on the heals of the pandemic.
