Among the many differences between conservatives and liberals is this one: Conservatives are perfectly willing to say the people who have attacked the Capitol are stupid assholes. And yet getting any of you to even talk about it is like pulling teeth. All you want to talk about is the violence on the "left".

People are claiming it was started by Antifa dressed as Trump supporters. Whatever it was, I believe it has totally destroyed the Conservative movement and probably Trumps legacy. What a sad way to end 4 years in office. The bar has been set pretty low for China Joe and Kamala Harrs. 1. Idiots are claiming the riot was started by Antifa. How do they explain trump egging them on? 2. I believe you're correct about trump's "legacy" although I'm not sure what it was before the riots...now he's just toxic. 3. Yes, the bar is pretty low at the moment, but again you can thank your guy for going so low.

Just so we are all on the same page. What is the date that the Binden/Harris economy starts? I remember over the last 4 years when the economy was good is was the Obama plan that turned things around. Then the stock market fell and it was Trump's economy. Then the stock market hit new all time highs and it was back to the Obama plan.

They will continue to blame everything negative on Trump. Even the next pandemic.

BUT We are not under normal circumstances. Not only have we been under these draconian, business-killing COVID constraints for the better part of a year, but the never-said-no-to-an-expense democrats effectively control both houses AND the off-White House... with special interests on the rise, along with Biden’s stated willingness to rule by Executive Order, and his also-stated intent to reverse anything Trump did... it should be (guessing) 2-3 years, max.

...AND the off-White House... Don't be surprised if the White House is painted a new color and renamed. After all, what could be more racist and colonialist than a white supremacist name for the president's official residence?

With Harris now in charge, it would not surprise me at all.

Why not paint it the rainbow colors of the LBGTQ flag?

I didn't know where else to put this, but since this thread is somewhat about the future, I'll put it here.
I had a chat with a buddy of mine last Thursday or Friday night. I was a history major as an undergrad, and he is a history buff, so we naturally got into that area of discussion. Here's the gist, and I'd like to hear others' opinions of it.
I've always felt that 1968 was the closest this country has ever come to unraveling since the end of the Civil War. The hippie counterculture movement was in full flower (no pun intended). We suffered the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy. Black Panthers and other black militant groups demonstrated, rioted and exchanged gunfire with peace officers almost every other week. Hundreds of peace demonstrators were beaten and injured in Chicago by police officers and National Guardsmen at the Democratic National Convention. National Guardsmen fired on college students at a bowling alley in South Carolina. The Tet offensive in Vietnam proved to us that we lacked either the ability or the resolve to win that war. 500 civilian men, women and children were massacred at My Lai because, "we had to destroy the village in order to save it."
I felt 1968 was the worst...until last year. Now I'm convinced that this last year was much worse in terms of threatening our coming apart than 1968 was. 1968 was primarily the naive young against the entrenched old guard, and the war in Vietnam was the trigger point. Our differences in 2020-21 seem more fundamental. For the first time the left and right distrust and hate each other like I've never seen before. Short of an alien invasion from outer space, it's hard to imagine how we can move back to a point where we are one united people again.
And watching all this from the sidelines, licking their chops, is China.
The United States became the preeminent power in the world at the end of World War I in 1918. (Some historians claim this country became the #1 power on earth at the end of the Spanish-American War in 1899, but I don't think I agree.) Historical hindsight tells us we've never had a real existential threat to our supremacy. It turned out that Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan didn't have the populations, resources, economies or military might to knock us off the top. The Soviet Union had the population and military power, but their economy proved to be a sham, and they lacked the popular support from their citizenry to prevail.
But China appears to have it all. They outnumber us almost five to one. They have access to resources that match our own. Their economy will surpass ours in the next five years, and their military could do the same within 15. Perhaps most importantly, they are hell-bent and single-minded in achieving world hegemony.
So we are tearing ourselves apart at absolutely the worst possible time, and as we weaken ourselves, a guy who will be bigger than us is just waiting to knock us out.
Thoughts?

I agree with you. I'm also concerned that the entrenched political class is letting them do it as long as China is willing to fund them politically and on the side. The cheap shots and vitriol from all corners since election night has been something I wasn't expecting. It's all out in the open now, and they don't seem to care. Even the Republicans are stabbing each other in the back now.
