I thought it appropos and prevalent in these ideological disruptive times we chime in on what we believe, feel and think "CONSERVATISM" is and should be going forth and how it fits or no longer fits within the present day GOP or any affiliated politicall party in the American system. It came to mind to do this after I read this, or these quotes from Ronald Reagan, The conservative understanding of what it means to care takes more words to explain. But Ronald Reagan had a way of simplifying what matters most. He would say, “We should measure welfare’s success by how many people leave welfare, not by how many are added.” We are the richest country in the world because people are free to earn their dream and keep most of what they earn.
He said it best: “Government is not a solution to our problem; government is the problem. … Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them. Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it. . . . The problem is not that people are taxed too little; the problem is that government spends too much.”
As Conservatives as well as Libertarian minded posters, how do you feel presently and what is your take on our ideology at this time in history? If you are not conservative or of libertine mind, please do not partake.

I thought we’d already started this thread, but I can’t find it and I really want to explore this topic. Starting with: Marjorie Taylor Greene's, Liz Cheney's futures in balance as House GOP gathers for crucial meeting Wednesday
well, turns out the party caucus decided to continue to support both Representatives... Now, I get continuing to support Cheney: she doesn’t tie the party line but her only real sin was supporting the (first) Trump impeachment. A stupid decision, to be sure, but not all that egregious. but Marjorie Taylor Greene? Seriously, the woman is suing the president (which I actually cheered, even though it will come to nothing), but she is a genuine whack-a-doodle! Even minority leader, Kevin McCarthy said, "Past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference. I condemn those comments unequivocally. I condemned them in the past. I continue to condemn them today. This House condemned QAnon last Congress and continues to do so today.” (aside: After McCarthy's comments, Nancy “clueless” Pelosi chimed in from the cheap seats: “After several conversations and literally running away from reporters, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) made clear that he is refusing to take action against conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. As a result, the House will continue with a vote to strip Greene of her seat on the esteemed House Committee on Education & Labor and House Committee on Budget. McCarthy’s failure to lead his party effectively hands the keys over to Greene – an anti-Semite, QAnon adherent and 9/11 Truther.") so I just don’t get why they are backing her!

I think the GOP is in decline, but I'm not at all convinced that it's permanent. These kinds of things tend to go in cycles, and the pendulum will likely swing back in the other direction some time in the future. Whether conservatism uses the "GOP" as their vehicle, or some other new group name, remains to be seen.
One thing I've said before is that you have to envy the left for their passion, energy and commitment to pushing their agenda. Maybe it's because so many of them are young losers with no families and no jobs, but they are perfectly willing to rant and rave, shout and scream, protest and riot, to get what they want. Conservatives are just the opposite. They are, by their nature, conservative. They go to work, pay the mortgage, support their families and raise their children. Everything else, including pushing political agendas, takes a back seat to their very different priorities.
With that said, their passive, laid-back personas have their limits. If push comes to shove, and things get violent in more than just isolated cases, I think the left will soon realize they have poked a bear one too many times, and the current leftist ascendancy will come to an end, because the left is mostly talk and little walk, while consevatives are just the opposite.

This is the first time in modern days that the majority has booted a committee member from the opposing party. Imagine how many heads will roll in 2022 if we get control of the house, considering this precedent. Adam Schiff. Eric Fartwell. Omar. Talib. Maxine. maybe Nancy herself, if she's still there.

Do you’re suggesting payback is a b*tch? Maybe, unless the GOP just rolls over ... like they usually do.

Problem is, most of the GOP is to gutless to use power when they have it. They don't have the huevos to do what the Democrats did today to MTG. THAT'S why no one involved in Russia Collusion Hoax has never been held to account--and never will be.

That responsibility lies with the voters in her district, where her past statements where well know--and where she was elected by over 70% of the vote. The principle at stake is that, as far as her right to serve on particular committees, what she has said prior to her election is no one's damned business--especially not the members of the opposition party. If the GOP leadership wants to limit her role then that's up to them, since she's a member of their caucus. But what law has she broken? What outrage has she uttered since her entire one month in Congress? The answer is: NONE. What's at stake is nothing less than the principle of free speech, which the Democrats seem to have no hesitation in using against anyone who dares to question their unhinged power grab. As soon as jackals like Maxine Waters, AOC, Adam Schiff, and Nancy Pelosi are free to serve as their caucus wishes--people who have uttered far more egregious and dangerous slanders than internet-fueled innuendos of MTG--then she has absolutely nothing to apologize for. Her political lynching today is nothing less than the latest advance in the totalitarianism of Leftist Cancel Culture.

As long as that's a fact, No Republican will ever get a fair shake there, and no Democrat will ever get convicted of much of anything. How sweet would it be if we could move the Capitol to the center of the country? Like Brazil did in 1960, when they moved theirs from Rio to more centrally located Brasilia. Anyway, removing Adam Schiff, Eric Fartwell, Omar, Talib, Maxine, et al. from their committee seats, would not be affected by DC voters.

With this, it appears Vice President Pence is stepping into a voice for "conservatism" and the belief and case for it... Pence first out of the gate, merges traditional conservatism with Trump base
With two moves this week that tighten his connection to the GOP conservative establishment and donors and the new generation of Trump voters, former Vice President Mike Pence has quickly put himself in a position to lead the party to victories in 2022 and 2024. Mike Pence, Karen Pence are posing for a picture © Provided by Washington ExaminerOn Thursday, Pence joined the Heritage Foundation as a distinguished visiting fellow for the conservative think tank that he has long had strong ties with. The move will give him access to key policy-makers and some of the biggest donors in the party.
Today, he joined the Young America’s Foundation as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar, making him a leader and mentor to the nation’s younger generation of conservative voters, especially activists brought into the party by Pence’s former boss, former President Trump. They have offered him a video podcast and a regular op-ed targeting younger voters.

Thats the pin in the pin cushion... "Diversity means to Divide". Right out of your city of Chicago to boot.... Alinsky and Obama used "Divide and Conquer" better than anyone.

Just give us a couple days, Dave, and I'm sure we'll come up with something even more radical. It's inevitable, given that we have three times as many people, and therefore three times as many idiots. Don't forget, we're the state with the school district that just a week ago decided to stop using acronyms because acronyms are a sign of "white privilege". You guys can put up a fight for a while, but in the end our sheer number of stupid people will overwhelm you.

You guys can put up a fight for a while, but in the end our sheer number of stupid people will overwhelm you. I used to think so. I mean you folks had such a head start on us. But lately, maybe with the election of Jabba the Governor, our whacks, weirdos, and power-grabbing megalomaniacs (which most states call “state government”), we seem to have entered some macabre contest between NY, CA, MI, and IL to see who can fall the furthest, the fastest. My thinking is, the very fact our legislators are actually considering this (it is in committee, right now) gives us a slight edge. However, as you note, CA can (and usually does) come roaring back to take over the lead... after all, our governor is only related to the Hilton’s... not Nancy Pelosi like yours is!
