The requirement that both nations have Atlantic and Pacific coasts is geographically problematic. Without that caveat, we could almost divide up by state, with only California needing to be split. I think every square foot south and east of St. John Bosco should be red, and the rest of the state can go as blue as they want. Being that Santa Ana continuously votes to empower the Democrat or Blue party i see no reason other than to split or draw the line there!

If county secession at the state level is acceptable, would that not set a precedent for entire states to do so on a national level? I'm pretty sure Abe Lincoln is dead, and I doubt Joe Biden has the same conviction to hold the union together.
Biden's chief of staff: "Mr. President, Idaho has just voted to secede from the union." Biden: "What's an Eye Tahoe?" Chief-of-staff: "No, sir, Idaho. It's a state in the Rocky Mountains." Biden: "All mountains are rocky, son. I'd think you would know that. Be more specific." Chief-of-staff: "It's a state way out west beyond the Great Plains." Biden: "Air Force One. Now there's a great plane." Chief-of-staff: "Not plane, sir, plains. The Great Plains. Way out west." Biden: "You mean like in West Virginia." Chief-of-staff: "No, sir, farther. Almost as far as California." Biden: "California? Isn't that where the Beverly Hillbillies moved to? Damn, that Ellie May Clampett could stroke my leg hairs anytime." Chief-of-staff: "Never mind, sir. I think it might be time for a nap." Biden: "I'm way ahead of ya, son. Already half way there." Chief-of-staff: "Have a good nap, sir." Biden: "Wake me if anything important happens. Like if that bitch Hillary Clinton ever shuts up. Or if merfershengumbtle hickorblatinscumption. Damn it, where's my diaper box?"

One thing I recall from back when Texas was thinking about secession was, there is nothing in the Constitution preventing states from calling it quits.

Another sign of division is the 2nd Amendment battle. I saw yesterday that three Missouri counties declared themselves 2nd Amendment sanctuaries, including one whose sheriff has said that he will order the arrest of any federal gun grabbers in his county. In addition,

It's like you never heard of the Civil War. Care to expand on this? He made a false equivalency between the war and a state seceding from the US. It’s like he never heard of logical consistency. 🤷🏻♂️

Percentages of support for secession into regional unions. Not how I'd divide things, but the percentages are interesting.

It's like you never heard of the Civil War. Care to expand on this? Sad that I need to... The argument that secession isn't proscribed by the Constitution has been made before...in 1861 some 'patriots' decided to act on that erroneous belief and they plunged this country into the most bloody war in its history...now we have people making the same stupid claim. I hope that explanation is enough.
