Just reported on OCVarsity. Not a surprise-although my thinking was after the upcoming fall season. Don't think he had the stomach for a total rebuild.
Question is whether or not the school will give new coach resources to compete. Could the Johnsons be headed to JSerra?

Curious if someone like Josh Henderson would consider the job. Great coach. Perhaps JSerra is too deep into the hole for him to consider.

It would be a worthy fit, he can coach and to stay relevant in Trinity RECRUIT. That said, without a power structure not sure with MD, SJB and now Servite rising there is enough at JS to compete, it took some $$$ backing to make JS relevant for a couple seasons, then poof when the banker behind all that took his deposits....

Servite's resurrection as a football power is the fashionable thing to say. However, with Noah Fifita and T-Mac graduating after one more season, with weak freshman teams the last two years, and with the alienation between Les Fifita and Troy Thomas, it remains to be seen if it's truly a resurrection or a three-year anomaly.

Agreed, but Troy also seems to be a bit of a carpetbagger. He got his dream job at Crespi, but left after four years. He got his dream job at Servite, but left after eight years. He got his dream job at Crespi again, but left after five years. Now he's four years into his dream job at Servite again. Let's see what happens when Noah, T-Mac and Troy's son all graduate.

From some of the OLu folks I know, there's some excitement about the new football coach hire.
As for the Servite resurrection to a national power, I'm in agreement with MDD that it's likely to revert back to a normal good HS football team cycle of up and down years.
As for the JS coach, he's really up against it. Frankly, I'm surprised the other 4 Trinity league members not named MD & SJB haven't left the league.

I’m more than surprised, Bick. I’m disappointed. I have on numerous occasions encouraged Andy Sulick and Rich Meyers to talk to the presidents of Servite and Orange Lutheran and bail out of that joke of a parochial conference.......with or without them. Failing that, just don’t play Mater Dei or Bosco in football. I feel they are doing their own students a great disservice by trying to pit them against institutional club teams versus which they have not the slightest chance of competing. If a private school wants to make football a major part of their “business model” to the point that the field is tilted to near vertical - and the CIF won’t or can’t stop it - then you have to step back and ask “Why do we even have a football program?” To provide an opportunity and outlet for our kids or to serve as a backdrop for schools that abuse parochial sports for business/egotistical purposes? At this point whose Interests are we serving?............Luca

Don't be surprised if Scott McKnight gets promoted to head coach.

Don't be surprised if Scott McKnight gets promoted to head coach. Makes sense given the timing.

Along the "business" vein, there's clearly a demand for such programs given the fact they seem to have little trouble re-loading each year. But if I'm not one of those programs, I wouldn't want to compete against them. Sierra Canyon seems to be headed that way also, and the teams in their league have opted against playing them.

There is room for a superteam north of the mountains-for a while thought Oaks would be it, then Calabasas.
In Bonnie's heyday they were the superteam for everything west of the Conejo Grade all the way to Santa Barbara. In that area they were everyone's 2nd favorite team (after their own HS) and were representing the region against the big boys. That model can still work if school is committed to it, which is a big IF.
Sierra Canyon is now in Mission League. Let's see what happens.
