Coach Danny has quite a few QBs that go to lots of other high schools. I'm thinking it might have more to do with the whole package that is at Los Al today.

So now it just reload at QB w/ Coach Danny? Thought you made the case this present class was a one timer..., just the nature of the beast.... LOL. Kinda takes away from the fun of league, welcome to the new wave in HSF. I'm curious...was it much fun in the PCL from 2012-2017 when you went 30-0 winning by an average of over 33 ppg with your D1 QB's? Would it be more accurate to say the "wave" started in 2012 with you? CDM margin of victory 2017 - 46.8 2016 - 43.5 2015 - 30.6 2014 - 24.6 2013 - 26.0 2012 - 28.2 Malachi Nelson will be the first D1 QB to have graduated from Los Al in the past 20 years, so yeah, it was accurate to say this is a generational team.

PCL streak was FUN for awhile as the progress of the program rose during those years, yet that rise was accomplished mainly, mostly from within, our students from our community, the rise, as dramatic as it was and has been was not achieved by ways and means some schools are now using. There is no geography nor pipeline to the I.E. getting us that chance to be generational, at least not up to this point. Who knows what the future holds as we have seen over the decades how it can change, for better, for worse.

Your program rose as a result of better coaching with O'Shea, and became a destination for QBs & Wrs over Newport, mainly because Brinkley wouldn't change his philosophy.
Same thing happening at Los Al. Prior to Fenton and staff coming over from FV, the Barons beat the Griffins 2 out of 3 years. Your implication that Los Al is recruiting from the IE like some of the privates is weak.
The 7v7 and travel kids want to continue playing together... That's the driving force behind most player movement. The kids and their parents know certain private coaches promise the moon and don't deliver.
You had this kid also, right?

Los Al draws from their area. CDM draws from their area. Edison draws from their area. Mission does it. La Habra too. Yorba Linda is starting to. All the successful programs do it. That's why Poly was so good for so long. They owned Long Beach, Carson, and the surrounding area.

Incoming freshman for the Griffins. Might be some tough sledding for the rest of the league over the next 4 years. Just wondering, I see the kid lists his home town as Long Beach. How does a kid go to Los Alamitos H.S. who lives outside the district? I know there's some school-of-choice options among Long Beach high schools; not sure how that works in different public school districts.

General Booty was at JSerra during the Spring 2021 (or was that 2019?) season--and was very unimpressive in our matchup that year. Where did he go after JSerra? Surprised he was offered by OU, considering what we saw in his lone season in Orange County.

Transfers have to move into the district. I also think parts of Seal beach, long Beach and Lakewood are in the district boundaries.

All districts try and attract students from outside their boundaries due to declining enrollment. Often times, the home district must sign off on the transfer but they can come up with special programs such as the farm at Mission Viejo.

I thought a few years back the LBUSD created a new enrollment policy regarding where kids live and go to school? This has been attributed a lot to the general decline in LB Poly, along with losing some kids to the Trinity league (which they always have regardless).

Cornerstone Christian High School, Corona del Mar High School, JSerra High School, Allen High School, and now Tyler Junior College. Maybe the kid just isn't all that good.

This has been attributed a lot to the general decline in LB Poly, along with losing some kids to the Trinity league (which they always have regardless). That's true. It used to be that if a kid lived in the LBUSD he could attend any high school within the district. That was changed to requiring him to attend the school in whose attendance area he lives.

Thanks, that’s what I thought. Regarding this kid, since he lives in Long Beach he would be required to enroll at the high school within the LSUSD whose boundaries he lives in. However, since he is going to Los Alamitos, which is not in the LBUSD, there is no restriction? I’m not familiar with the Los Alamitos USD enrollment policies but is this correct? I believe Los Al has a long history of having kids from Long Beach.

The Los Alamitos Unified School District comprises Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Rossmoor, a sliver of Cypress, and a wedge of Long Beach that includes an apartment complex called The Bungalows. Unless this young man lives in those apartments, his right to attend Los Alamitos could be questioned.
However, it should be pointed out that public schools have long histories of getting around enrollment boundaries. All it takes is a little imagination. Mission Viejo used to hire parents of skilled athletes as part-time librarians or part-time janitors so their kids could attend the school even though they lived outside the school's enrollment boundaries or district. And Edison has had athletes from Costa Mesa and Newport Beach for decades. Where there's a will, there's a way.
