That's certainly a possibility. But perhaps just as likely is this: Many on the left, somewhere deep inside themselves in places they are unwilling to acknowledge, they recognize the fragility of the nonsense they espouse and its inability to stand up to common sense challenges. Or they recognize their own insecurities in being able to defend those positions in any kind of honest back-and-forth. It's no coincidence that the right wants the left to espouse their silly beliefs every chance they get, while the left desperately wants to prevent the right from doing the same. I imagine there's an element of both. The hard leftists do have a disadvantage as you say because the ideas they propound - collectivism, defunding police, carefree deficit spending, open borders, etc, - either have already been shown to fail miserably elsewhere in the past or are intuitively absurd. Whereas they have to support their positions with concepts, theories, and appeals to sympathy, they can so often easily be countered by merely pointing out historical precedents. It must be pretty aggravating. Facts can be so inconvenient. I think that's why so many revert to castigating opposing opinions as "racist" or "homophobic" or (my favorite) fill-in-the-blank "bashing." When you can get away with portraying the contrary perspective as being motivated by evil intent, well, then you have relieved yourself of the responsibility to counter it on a basis of reason. It's like the prosecutors in the Salem witch trials. Even when it has been pointed out that nobody has actually seen Elizabeth turn into a salamander and fly off into the forest, all they had to do was point and yell "WITCH."........................Luca .. |

I know I've said this before, but I always thought the best example of an entire nation going insane was 1930's Germany. But I have to concede that the current environment is just as inexplicable. I'm convinced the number of real left-wing loons who push this agenda is on the order of 15 to 20% of the population, and maybe less. So what is so frustrating is that the remaining 80 to 85% seem to cower under the energy and vocal volume of the far left. Shouting something vehemently and loudly doesn't make it more sensical, but the majority don't seem to have the gumption to fight back with equal vigor and resolve.
Quite frankly, I think we'd rather spend our time ineffectively bitching on forums like this one.

Yes, Neil Young indicated that if they don't censor Rogan, we would leave. Given a choice between a currently relevant guy with 11 million followers and a talented but obsolete dinosaur, they said goodbye to Young.

What's actually very encouraging, is the number of people around the world I've engaged with on Twitter who are united in their demand for freedom. This, despite the censorship Twitter levies on those deemed as anti vaxxers. |
