Eric is either delusional, or he's intentionally obtuse. Mater Dei players will speak with most people, as evidenced by C.J. Williams, Quincy Craig and Sione Moa speaking on microphone right after receiving the state championship trophy last night. The reason they refuse to speak to Scott Reid, Steve Fryer, Mark Whicker, Gustavo Arellano, Bill Plaschke and Eric Sondheimer should be evident even to a deceivng little gnome like Eric.
On another note, there is so much more factual information regarding this issue that will be revealed when the time is right that anyone commenting on it now (or drawing conclusions and demanding lynchings) is wasting their breath. When what some of these writers have written will be shown up for what it is, the term "premature ejaculaton" will have a whole new meaning.

Plaschke's interview was uncalled for. These guys are putting out click bait. The player suffered a concussion, which is a traumatic brain injury, but why not say that? It's yellow journalism. They are using sensationalist writing and speaking techniques rather than stating facts. I have seen the video several times. It was brutal. I have seen worse. Who knows who knew what when it occurred? The public does not get to be the judge, jury, and executioner on matters such as this. It's irresponsible journalism in my opinion. But, I have a personal relationship with Rollo so I see this event through those lenses.

Plashke is different from the others I mentioned. It's his job to be outrageous in what he says and what he predicts. That's why every Sunday, the letters to the Sports section in the Times are littered with people complaining about what an ignorant ass he is. More importantly, the six guys in my post above are dinosaurs, trying to survive in a dying industry. I suppose they all have families to support (well, except for Sondheimer), and they're grasping at every flotation device to help stay afloat a little longer. What are they going to do when print journalism breathes its last breath? It's really kind of sad when you think about it, but it doesn't excuse their unprofessional, outlandish behavior in this case.

I have only briefly met Coach Rollins on once, so I really have no bias here...other than a bias against BS reporting like this.
That wasn't even a real "fight", and I don't think it was the least bit brutal. They didn't even seem mad at each other.

That he would think any of them would speak to him after that hit piece, speaks entirely into his opinion of himself. Frankly, I'd be surprised if any HS coach familiar with what happened would speak to him again.

Thanks, Bick. I can't predict the future, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone didn't "accidentally" bump into him and knock him on his ass at some 7-on-7 tournament next summer.

Bick, any chance the title of this thread can be changed to "Mater Dei ALLEGED Hazing incident". No need for the site to further the media pimping for the plaintiffs' attorneys.

He held a grudge against JT Daniels and MD because Daniels did not divulge to him that he was reclassifying and entering USC after his Junior year of high school. He cried that he was lied to and mislead by Daniels. As if Daniels owed Sondy anything that he would divulge something he didn't want the general public to know yet.

Mater Dei High School president Father Walter Jenkins has stepped down amid tensions between Jenkins and longtime Mater Dei head football coach Bruce Rollinson and his supporters.
Must be another conspiracy by all the jealous haters.....

The president of a school resigns because of “conflicts” with the football coach? Really? It sounds like a parody from from The Onion.
It’s coincidental that just yesterday I was talking to a very high administrative official from one of the Trinity league schools about the scandal at Mater Dei. I told him it sounded to me like the entire episode was being swept under the rug, but he said no it wasn’t, that there was more to come out. He also said that the current president at Mater Dei (the one who just resigned) was a good man and would try to make some changes. But that if the school was not willing to change that he would not last in his position. I guess we have our answer.
He also expressed that at least half of the Trinity league would support telling MD and Bosco to take a hike and figure out their own IMG type schedule but some of them would not be allowed to do so by the OC diocese. (Plus the CIF would be unlikely accommodate their wish to be placed in another league). Loyola, for example, won’t consider scheduling any of the Trinity schools in football because they don’t want to be associated with them.
Today I was talking to my wife who is one of the legacy teachers at JSerra. I asked her out of curiosity what would be the response at JSerra if three of their athletes ambushed another student outside of his home and caused serious injury. She was puzzled by the question and stated that obviously the school would be “opposed“ to such behavior. She didn’t seem to understand what I was asking so finally I got frustrated and asked her whether the kids be allowed to stay in school. She looked at me as though I were an idiot (I’m accustomed to that look) and without hesitation said “Well of of course they’d be expelled, that’s a given.” She was appalled that at Mater Dei not only were the kids not expelled but they continued to compete in athletics.
I really wonder what it would take to restore ethics at that school. I suspect that there will be some cosmetic changes but I’m skeptical any return to traditional values will occur. ………Luca

MDD - your take on the resignation today? Bick, I'm sorry, but I'm really not at liberty to give you a "take". However, I can say two things: (1) Neither Amanda Waters nor Father Jenkins left the school for the sinister reasons implied by Eric Sondheimer in his tweets today or those speculated by "well-informed" posters on this forum. Sondheimer conveniently neglected to mention that the vast majority of Mater Dei's administrators are from outside the school. (2) I very much hope this affair isn't settled out of court. Only if there's a trial will the real facts of this fiasco come to light, and people like Sondheimer, Scott Reid and Bill Plaschke will be exposed for the ignorant, opportunistic hate-mongers they have been on this matter, repeating the plaintiff's charges as though they were proven facts, for the sole purpose of generating clicks and selling papers. It's interesting that some of us here complain about the mainstream media endlessly offering biased half-truths and fabrications as fact, yet are perfectly willing to accept the same from the three shit "journalists" I mentioned above.

It is not surprising to see that Jenkins is gone. I know that alumni and current people associated with MD ultimately want the truth to be revealed. I am looking forward to it. But the way Jenkins handled himself in public was embarrassing and his actions at the championship game was the nail in his coffin. He really pissed off a lot of people.
These so-called journalists are printing crap such as the ‘power struggle’ and ‘conflicts’ between Rollinson and Jenkins. What a joke. They don’t even know what they don’t know, which is the truest form of ignorance. The only conflict will be for them when they need to write an article after both sides have told their story.

The irony here is that parents have stepped forward. Lol. Which is largely part of the reason Jenkins is gone.
