Frog, are you implying soft drink execs aren't high value targets for extremists worldwide?

In fairness, she has extensive SS experience before Pepsi. But then again, diversity has to work its way into the mission (2nd sentence).
Kimberly Cheatle is the 27th Director of the U.S. Secret Service, sworn in to office September 17, 2022. She is responsible for successfully executing the agency’s integrated mission of protection and investigations by leading a diverse workforce composed of more than 7,800 Special Agents, Uniformed Division Officers, Technical Law Enforcement Officers, and Administrative, Professional, and Technical personnel.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Cheatle served as Senior Director in Global Security at PepsiCo, where she was responsible for directing and implementing security protocols for the company's facilities in North America. Her role at PepsiCo involved developing risk management assessment and risk mitigation strategies.
Before joining PepsiCo, she served with distinction for 27 years in the U.S. Secret Service, most recently as Assistant Director of the Office of Protective Operations. In this position, Ms. Cheatle managed a $133.5M budget and collaborated with ten operational divisions and the Technical Security Division to research, develop and deploy technologies that reduce risks to protectees, protected facilities, and protected events.

Her role at PepsiCo involved developing risk management assessment and risk mitigation strategies. Yesterday she clearly forgot everything she ever learned in those two responsibilities.

Already being discussed is yet another DEI hire failure at the head of the Secret Service. If THAT wasn't on full display yesterday. I agree, DEI is going to get people killed. If you watch that video closely, from the time Trump got up from crouching behind the podium until he disappeared into the evacuation vehicle, the actions of the female agents were an absolute joke. They looked utterly totally confused, terrified and not sure of what to do. It was pathetic, and they had no business being on that detail. Those three ladies near the vehicle looked right out of a KEYSTONE COPS movie!!!

Hello everyone. If there was ever a reason to stop back by, yesterday was indeed it.
A couple of observations/questions.
First, I have yet to hear anyone who publicly called Trump a "Threat to Democracy" or made a comparison to him being like Hitler apologize for making such statements. This includes (but is not limited to) Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Shumer and the members of the Squad. Considering the assassination attempt, failure to apologize for that kind of rhetoric is basically doubling down on it.
Second, the aforementioned folks DID make sure to publicly offer the sympathy their hopes for a speedy recover to Trump, basically falling over each other to be first in line. Since they have not renounced their previous accusations, how sincere is their concern? After all, who in their right mind would send Hitler a "Get Well Soon" card? So either they are lying about their concern for Trump or the narrative they have pushed for 8 years is bullsh**.
Third, years back, MDDad was astonished that some of us thought another US Civil War was a possibility. No disrespect for his opinion, it seemed genuine & thought out. My question for MDDad is, had the bullet not missed the rest of Trumps head and the world saw an assassination live in 4K, do you still believe that another US Civil War would not be happening right now?
Last Question (Plagiarized from Twitter): Do you know what Hillary Clinton said when informed about the shooting? Answer "What do you mean, he missed?"

RSM, good to hear you chime in......,
w/ that, yes, agree, the sincerity of these newly found well wishers rates about a 1 or 2 on a 10 scale. & yes it is utter hypocrisy w/ the idea that if Trump is truly H*tler then no way any sympathy, well wish or caring comments would be sent. That would be like what, Adolf commits suicide and Franklin on behalf of the US Government sends the family flowers for the funeral?
I think MDDad, most of us, myself included have always conjured what will it take to turns this drifting ship around, utter collapse morally? Fiscally? A "CIVIL WAR"? Although we may not be right there yet but all three we creep as a nation ever so close. An assassination attempt on a President or former President took us one step in that direction. Without doubt. When such an attempt occurs, there is little restitute morally except to take a deep look in the mirror.
Interesting times indeed, unsettling, uncertain, bordering insane.

Good to see that you are still alive, RSM. As regards the possibility of a Civil War I have always held the position that usually what we see in the papers are comments from the breathless and overwrought fringe. You are familiar with the old adage that "If it bleeds it leads" since we typically see the emotional rants of the left and right fielders. They represent some but - I have always believed - not most. You know what you are going to see if you read CNN or MSNBC or Fox. Rachel Maddow has an audience simply because she feeds the needs of the leftists seeking confirmation of Russian collusion or "threat to democracy" or whatever off-the-wall crisis du jour is fashionable.
I had always recalled Lincoln's comments on "the better angels of our nature", but of course he said that shortly before the onset of the Civil War, so........
MDDad, why would you be concerned about commentary on TOB? There is a reason why we don't contribute there any longer. As they say, "Consider the source."
A former American president and current presidential candidate has been shot and there is not one glimmer of recognition regarding the portent of such a thing. Or of the endless malicious commentary from those leftist types I noted above. The comment of the current president that Trump should be placed in a "bull's-eye" shortly before the episode is stunning, but also routine at this point. There is so much intransigent animosity on that board that I found after years of trying there wasn't anybody with whom I could have an objective discussion.
I did take a look at it as you suggested and found it a little depressing. But it was worth it because I couldn't help laughing at Wabash and the cogent observation that:
"I stopped trying to apply logic, reason, and rationality a long time ago."
As Winston Churchill commented about Stanley Baldwin:
"He occasionally stumbles over the truth, but he picks himself up and hurries along as if nothing it happened."........................................Luca

Hey RSM - it's been a few minutes. Hope you keep swinging on in.
That SKY News Australia piece was spot on.
I went over to TOB and was quickly reminded why this board came into existence, why I don't go there to peruse or copy their pearls of wisdom, and why I've got zero interest in having any of the usual suspects over here. I doubt they want to hear from me either. Long winded way of saying we're good being dead to each other.
