Many privates seem to be falling into a feast or famine cycle.., look at Alemany or Grace Brethren or S. O. ND, St Francis, Loyola ( I wont add a team that would offend any members ) You recruit a good cycle and boom you shoot up, when they abandoned you look out below. |

After decades of watching this sport, I'm convinced the single biggest factor in long-term success is the head coach. When he leaves or retires, unless he's put in place an ungodly amount of infrastructure, the program falls apart. Look at the examples: Ladouceur at De La Salle, Grady at Loyola, Herrington at Hart, White at Edison, van Hoorebeke at Anaheim, Lara at Poly, Hartigan at Santa Margarita, Kunau at Orange Lutheran, Rooney at Notre Dame, Ancich at St. Paul and a hundred others. When a coach like that leaves, there is almost always a collapse.

Not likely, considering Mater Dei's "ungodly amount of infrastructure", namely, their own set of express lanes on the 91 Fwy between the IE and the 55 interchange. Now we know what the /I\ symbol on the freeway really means....  But don't be surprised if Mike Brennan has a plan to shut down that pipeline real soon. Stay tuned..... |
