Bick you are confusing CONTENT with OWNERSHIP. They discussion or possible action against Tik Tock are not about content yet what ownership (China) is doing with viewer/subscriber information. Whether its was Sponge Bob or Porn that is not what the banning Tik Tock actions are about. |

How does it matter who owns what? If subscribers are ok with getting their info shared here, what does it matter if it's there as well? Maybe it comes down to a matter of trust. It wouldn't bother me much if posters on this board knew who I was, but I'd certainly prefer nobody on TOB did. And as much as I'd rather that Mark Zuckerberg not know my personal information, I'd rather he knew it than the Chinese Communist Party. Maybe that's why I've never considered joining any social media platform. |

I think it's the other way around. Zuckerberg is complicit with the FBI. What could China possibly do with your identity that's worse than the FBI?
And yeah, we already saw what the girls over there do with private info.

It is amazing how valuable information is, and how easy it is to get. Google makes a ton of money using information to target ads. same with FB, etc
Genetic information is sold by the companies who give you a report on your ancestry. During the pandemic, the Chinese were also involved in the testing and there were concerns that they would do with the info collected (I am not sure they had access to all of the tests, but I remember the concerns).
Kids are naive, and their information is being collected by the CCP. What they can do with it, I don't know.
I am on the fence, if I had to say yah or nay real quick, I would ban them.

The more I read, the more I listen, this is a complex equation. Reinforcing this observation, politicians, talking heads, legal scholars, lawyers are all over the map on this issue of Tik Tock.

OK, I am against it. Watch Tucker Monday. It is about limiting all speech on the Internet. Prison... Foreign adversaries, etc. Just because both parties are in favor of it, doesn't make it good. The bill does not protect us. They want to expand their police powers. I agree with AOC, but probably not for the same reasons.

AOC just wants a silly outlet to make childish home videos spewing ignorance to her constituents. She doesn't think deeper nor beyond that. Tucker brought up many good points against this...., it is beyond sad that the idea that if bi-partisan support is more dangerous than not. Its now looked at if they are for it, its bad for us. WTF kind of representation is that? The government is your enemy. |

WTF kind of representation is that? The government is your enemy. It has probably been that way for a long time. Most people, including some Republicans, don't realize what is happening. Instead of focusing on TickTok, they are turning their guns at the American people, basically saying that if you post something we don't like, we are coming after you. They turned something that could have made sense into a power grab. |
