I legitimately don't think there will ever be a World War III... countries, and specifically, the major world powers, are too reliant on one another

I've thought the same thing...at least for some countries. China for example. Why would China want to have a war with a country that owes them so much money? If they did, they could kiss goodbye any chance of our ever paying them back.
And, I suspect our desire to purchase Chinese goods would disappear rather completely.
