I can think of a few different ways to spend an afternoon than dropping to the bottom of the ocean in a sardine can.

I agree. I feel bad for the families who lost loved ones, and for the 19-year-old kid you really didn't want to get in that "submersible", but if rich people are willing to blow $250K to get in a tin can and drop to the bottom of the ocean, it's kind of hard to feel crushed with grief when things go sour.
And to make matters worse, that sub didn't even have any windows. If I'm going to blow that kind of money to see the Titanic, I want to see it with my own eyes, not on a tiny video screen from tiny video cameras. I can do that at home (a) kicked back in my recliner, (b) with a beer in my hand, and c) for free. That's a much better deal.
